"This is the place," Luna said while standing on the sidewalk. She and Isaac went to examine the location of the incident; unfortunately, it was in a very populated area.
It was close to the main street, with crowded sidewalks, bustling restaurants, and towering skyscrapers. However, luckily there weren't any apartments near.
"This is going to be tricky…" Isaac said while rubbing his chin. Keeping everyone safe from the fight's aftermath was incredibly difficult. After joining the fight, he would need to tread very carefully.
It wasn't possible to use Meteor Descent and Seismic-Wave. Otherwise big portion of the City would get destroyed.
"I am not too sure about this…" Luna bit her nail and asked, "Isn't it possible to make them fight somewhere else?"
"No, it would be too obvious." Isaac sighed, "They can't know about our existence until it's too late. Also, the more populated the area, the bigger the effect."
''I am not confident.'' Luna said with worry, "There are a lot of people."
"The people will run away once the fight starts." Isaac tapped her shoulder as comfort, "They will retreat far away, and you just have to cover them."
"A-Alright." Luna's hands trembled as she tried to think of a spell that would help her the most.
"Let's return to the hotel to plan this more thoroughly," Isaac said while taking out his camera. He snapped several pictures of the surrounding area and then packed the camera into his bag.
Soon, they left and returned to the hotel.
…
"Ugh…" Henry walked out of his dirty apartment and felt the sunlight caressing his gaunt face. The apartment complex was eerily quiet like no one was there.
That gave him a slight sense of satisfaction. However, the sound of footsteps coming from pedestrians disturbed his peace, and the humming of car engines made him angry. Also, seeing the towering skyscrapers made him thirsty for blood.
"I want this place to be quiet… quiet…"
With his left hand, he pulled out a blood-stained knife. It wasn't the result of just one or two kills; instead, there were a dozen types of blood mixed. There was a sign of blood stains on the hallway floors.
Henry hatefully glared at the nearby pedestrians and murmured chilly word, "Silence…"
…
Six days later.
A large plasma TV showed a News broadcast.
A man with short black hair, a navy-colored suit, and stacks of papers in hand appeared. His lips slowly curved into a smile as he spoke about tonight's news.
At first, he talked about the state of Laughshow, and then it was time for the weather and the sports. Lastly, his smile vanished as he received a piece of news on his earbud.
His seriousness was captured by the camera, and the citizens watching turned silent.
"Tonight, there has been another murder." He said with trembling hands, "It was the tenth killing in the past six days, and the culprit… seems to be the same.
"The murder was, once again, extremely brutal and seemed to be the work of a serial killer. The police have been trying everything in their power to capture the killer, but they couldn't catch even a glimpse of the culprit.
"Tonight's killing happened in District Nine, which is only walking distance away from District Ten. The first batch of murders occurred in District Zero, then District Six, until finally, the killer arrived in District Nine.
"Police are suggesting everyone to not wander during the night because it looks like the serial killer is active after 7 o'clock in the evening, and one of the murders even happened close to the midnight."
Clank.
The TV screen turned dark.
"Hmm…" Luna thoughtfully pondered after hearing the news.
The bathroom door opened, and Isaac arrived with a towel surrounding his body.
"Isaac, there is apparently a serial killer on the loose, and I have a feeling that it might be that Rogue Chain Breaker."
"Really?" Isaac clicked his tongue, "The Clairvoyance Spell didn't treat this as a serious incident?"
"I guess so." Luna sighed, "Sometimes the spells have a mind of their own."
Isaac went to the wardrobe, took out his bag, and changed clothes. Then, he returned to the bed and asked, "Tomorrow is the day. Are you prepared?"
"Yup!" Luna chirped with a slightly forced smile. She was nervous and scared that she might fail.
"Good." Isaac nodded but didn't overlook her nervousness. However, he knew that when things got hard, she would be able to handle it.
…
The following day.
Inside an empty restaurant.
A dark-haired figure sat alone in the restaurant, eating a well-cooked steak. He stabbed his fork into the juicy part and used a knife to cut it. Then, he put the piece of steak inside his mouth and started chewing.
This person was All-In-One. He wasn't feeling well because he couldn't find the person he'd came here for. He searched Henry's apartment in District Zero, but there wasn't any sign of anyone being there for close to a week.
'Where could he be…' All-In-One frowned while chewing on his steak.
Then, the kitchen door opened, and the restaurant owner walked toward him with a humbled look.
"We are very honored to have you, Captain of Sword of Myth, dining in our establishment." The restaurant owner said with a smile and tiny bow.
"Mmh." All-In-One only mumbled as he continued chewing on the food. His focus was on the steak. However, then his hair stood up as he felt something strange crawling inside him.
It was his instinct telling him to turn his head to the left.
Turning his head to the left, he saw a hooded figure with a shadowy face walking past the restaurant. The hooded figure revealed danger signs, and even the dogs barked loudly as he walked past them.
All-In-One dropped his fork and the knife. Then, he rushed out of the restaurant while the owner shouted behind him, "Was the food not to your liking?!"
All-In-One ignored him and ran after the hooded figure. Soon, he saw the back of the dark hood and immediately grabbed his shoulder, "Hey, excuse me!"
"Hmm?" The hooded figure stopped silently.
"Are you Henry Feather?"
"Henry? No… I am Jack." The hooded figure turned around with a crazed smile and a blood-stained knife in his right hand.
