Chapter 192 : The messiah of the Royalists
We climbed the stairs to the top floor of the mansion.
The first thing I immediately saw was a remarkably extravagant door.
Ramon stopped in front of it and knocked.
“It’s Ramon Aiber, sir!” he promptly shouted. A voice answered him from the other side.
“Come in.” (???)
“Thank you, sir!” (Ramon)
When he opened the door, we found ourselves in an office.
On both sides of the room, demons in armor and armed with swords were standing at attention.
In front of me was an extravagantly decorated desk where one man was seated.
He had pale skin and a white beard. He was lanky and looked high-strung, but his eyes were sharp.
I saw him once back when I gathered all the big shots of Midhaze. And based on the magic power overflowing from his source, there was no doubt about his identity.
Zerceas Angart.
He was the current head of the Angart family and the second most powerful man in the city after the Demon Lord.
He was present at the meeting to decide on new policies to promote in Midhaze, and he had made some very meaningful remarks.
If anything, his proposals regarding the royals were harsh, but maybe that was a ruse to hide the fact that he was a Royalist himself.
“Is this the new comrade you told me about?” Zerceas asked.
“Yes, sir. This is my sworn brother, Anosh Polticoal.” (Ramon)
I stepped forward in a dignified manner.
“My name is Anosh Polticoal, I’m six years old. I’m here because I’m interested in the activities of the Royalists. So, you’re their leader, huh?” I said to Zerceas.
Zerceas raised his eyebrows in slight displeasure when I said this.
“P-Please excuse him, Zerceas-sama! This is how he speaks to everybody.” (Ramon)
There were many demons who didn’t care about language, but apparently, Zerceas did.
“Well, that’s all right. I’m a tolerant man. I don’t take issue with every single thing a child says.” he spat out before resting his chin on his hand.
“Just so we’re clear, Ramon. As you already know, we’re in dire need of comrades right now. But even so, that doesn’t mean we accept just about anyone. We fight for a noble cause. Do you understand my point?” (Zerceas)
Feeling almost consumed by Zerceas’ pressure, Ramon spoke in a hurry.
“O… Of course, sir! Anosh may be a child, but he possesses a great amount of magic power and knows a whole lot of spells. If you agree to see him in action for a bit, I think you will agree right away. Perhaps he could even become our trump ca—” (Ramon)
“Ramon.” (Zerceas)
Zerceas directed his sharp glare at Ramon.
That alone was enough to shut him up and make him chicken out.
“I’m not asking for your opinion. I’ll be the one to decide whether he can be our trump card or not. All you have to do is gather allies, as I told you.” (Zerceas)
Ramon nodded in frustration.
“Y… Yes, sir…” (Ramon)
As I suspected, Ramon seemed to be rather low in the hierarchy.
I guess he was something of an errand boy tasked with bringing comrades to the Resistance.
“Anosh, was it? We don’t discriminate against children here. But if you want to join our ranks, you must show me your power.” (Zerceas)
Zerceas snapped his fingers.
The six soldiers on either side of the room formed a line in front of me.
“These men are my closest aides. All of them are strong demons. You may pick any one of them as your opponent. I don’t ask you to defeat them. If you can hold out for 10 mins, I will let you join us.” (Zerceas)
I briefly scanned the demons before me with my Magic Eyes.
“Hmm. Pitting the small fry against me to see how I fare, I see.” (Anos)
Zerceas grimaced.
“…What did you call us…?” (Soldier A)
“All six of you, come at me. I’ll show you that you’re not even worth a warmup.” (Anos)
“…You brat… Do you even realize what you’re saying?” (Soldier A)
One of the soldiers stepped forward.
He glared at me to express his indignation.
“We are proud to serve the Angart family. Do you really think you can slander us and get away with it?” (Soldier A)
Another one stepped forward.
I could see his frustration on his face.
“Take that back immediately. Otherwise, we’ll make you eat your words, child or not.” (Soldier B)
“Now that’s the spirit. If you didn’t take this seriously, you would die.” I told them with a grin.
Unable to take any more of my taunts, the soldiers pulled out their demon swords one after another.
“Will you allow it, Zerceas-sama?” (Soldier A)
“I don’t mind. However, if I deem him to be useful, don’t kill him.” (Zerceas)
When Zerceas gave his permission, all six of them surrounded me.
“You know at least how to use storage magic, right? Then draw your sword. We’ll put an end to your arrogance.” (Soldier A)
Without giving any particular response to his words, I casually waved my hands to relax my wrists.
“…What are you playing at, brat?” (Soldier A)
“If you think we won’t cut you down just because you’re unarmed, you’re sorely mistaken.” (Soldier B)
“Don’t mind me, I’ve just been feeling rusty lately due to lack of exercise. I’d like to let loose, but… Well, with worms like you as my opponents, I won’t even get to do that.” (Anos)
The moment I spoke, the soldiers clutched their swords in rage.
“…That does it. YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS!!” (Soldier A)
One of the soldiers jumped at me.
