Chapter 246 – Florida Man Arrested for Breaking into Neighbor's Home and Stealing a Weed Joint from Furry Burglars in the Same House.

Leo's eyes gleamed. He shifted his attention to the colony and the werewolves in a space marine suit.

"Resources… Materials…"

The werewolves sensed his killing intent. Their fur stood up while their tails tugged between their legs.

It was too late for them to retreat. Leo charged at them.

"THIS IS ROBBERY!! GIMME YOUR WALLET, YOUR CLOTHES, AND YOUR MEAT!"

.

.

WHOOSH

The airtight room's interior automatic door was opened. The elder in a suit entered the colony's entrance door and looked inside. The interior was a steel corridor resembling the interior of a spaceship.

Leo hummed as he got several sets of bulky spacesuits and saw swords. He looked forward to reselling them to his employees.

RUMBLE

Steel shuttles descended from the ceiling and trapped Leo in front of the airtight room. The air vents poured green gas into the sealed area.

Leo was amused. He sniffed at the green gas and compared it to the toxic air that he once tasted.

"About the same smell as the mustard gas but the potency is lacking. Godzilla's bad breath is stronger than this. At least their breath can melt diamonds, concrete, and metals. This thing only burns."

Leo purposely inhaled the gas, treating it as good smoke. He exhaled and licked his lips.

The gas did nothing to Leo's lungs, skin, or internal organs. Instead, it only made them slightly tingling as if someone stroked his internal organs with a feather.

"Ah, that's a good smoke right there. It's a shame to waste it. Can I have some more?"

Leo tested his inventory system by gathering green gas with his Qi. He then shoved the mass of the gas ball into the inventory screen.

The gas passed through the screen, but it wasn't stored. The system also warned him.

<Only solid materials can be stored in the inventory.>

"Shame."

Leo shook his head and leisurely browsed his system shop. He searched for tools to compress air into a container, and the first result was a balloon.

"Ah, yes. Balloons! I miss my childhood days. Those helium balloons were the funniest toys back then."

When Leo was a child, he got stuck inside a room with nothing but glass windows around him. He remembered that his parents sometimes visited him in his room and brought him either food or toys. Usually, they were accompanied by strangers in white coats.

It was a vague and hazy memory. Leo roughly remembered that his parents reluctantly showed him a helium balloon and inhaled the air inside. Then, their voice changed. Leo also tried it and got addicted to the weird gas.

Afterward, strangers in white coats brought various balloons with unknown substances and smelly air to Leo. They forced him to inhale them and watched him suffer from various side effects. Fortunately, the pain never lasted long as his parents always returned to feed him delicious water.

The strange memory was short as Leo's parents brought him home when he was 10. He then met a sibling, who came from the adjacent glass room.

The rest of the memory was confusing and hazy. Leo couldn't recall anything after that, except the time when he emerged out of the alien spaceship.

Thus, the balloons gave Leo a nostalgic feeling. He purchased a package of a thousand balloons and used his Qi to fill them with gas. When a balloon was filled, Leo tried to store it in his inventory.

DING

<You have stored a soul-corrupting balloon in your inventory.>

It didn't pass through the inventory screen this time. The system recognized it as an item and listed it as a balloon.

"Soul corrupting? More like a mild weed to me. Anyway, thanks for the treat. I need those. I miss smoking. If I can mix this with those abundant immortal grass and sweet dream mushrooms, I should be able to make the ultimate joint!"

Had Esen and others heard and understood Leo's intention, they would have cursed him for decades because of his stupidity and silliness. No sane cultivator smoked poisonous gas or used it as a reliever.

As Leo stood there and collected the gas leisurely, the vents kept pouring gas inside while the CCTV cameras fixated on him.

An hour later, the vents stopped releasing gas. Instead, they poured sticky liquid inside the sealed area.

Meanwhile, Leo just stored the 1,000th poison gas balloon in his inventory. He was about to quit as he ran out of containers.

"Oh? What is this? Gasoline? Tar? Oil? Or… is this new meth I can use?"

.

.

While Leo forgot about the urgency and messed around, a large portal in the void was opened, and a large battleship exited the gate.

The battleship was one of many survivors from the previous raid. Overlord Milo personally took control of the ship and used it to travel here.

At the bridge of his battleship, a system screen informed him of the raid.

<A Player has invaded your Max Fenrir's home planet. The population of your friend's capital city is requesting reinforcement.>

<If you can repel the invader, the local population will acknowledge you as their lord. You may also claim his system perks, system buildings, and assets as quest rewards.>

Overlord Milo reread the message for the 10th time. Although he wasn't fond of Overlord Max, the rewards were too tempting. He wanted all colonies of his dead friend right away.

"Which idiots raid an overlord's town? Are they dumb? Don't they know that poking an overlord's town is automatically a death sentence? There are a bunch of system users in hiding. It's not like all system users show up at the Fate Stadium and register their names. Max also befriended a hundred system users. They should have arrived here by now."

This wasn't Overlord Milo's first rodeo. He had claimed several cities of his dead friends, and he used to defend ownerless cities several times. Thus, he was familiar with the clan battle system.

The key to victory wasn't just defending the main base. It required the defenders to buy time and run the clock. After all, the invading side only had 24 hours to destroy or take control of the main base. In case of failure, the invaders would always be sent home and suffer from a system's penalties, such as their bases being exposed to other system users.

Overlord Milo operated his ship's console and deployed a hundred observation drones. The drones descended the atmosphere and entered the orange world.

Each drone was as large as a F16. Its main equipment was cameras, a pseudo-deity shield system, and an emergency bomb, which could turn the observation drone into a suicide drone if necessary.

The drones scattered and passed through the tribulation lightning clouds. Orange thunderbolts hit them as a result, but none of them were harmed. An energy shield protected the hulls and the components, allowing them to enter the hazardous world.

Because of Leo's previous deed, several parts of the world were in flame, though most of the fire died down because this world contained very thin burnable gas.

Aside from the colony that Leo was in, this planet was a wasteland with nothing but raging tribulation lightning bolts.

Overlord Milo deeply sighed while he gazed at Max's home planet. He complained.

"This is what happens when you ignore the laws of a mortal world. If an immortal, a deity, or any powerhouse prolongs its stay in a mortal world, orange tribulation clouds will descend and burn the entire world. Now, look at your population. Only one city is left standing. I bet they already run out of food and resources."

Milo stood up. He vanished from his spaceship and reappeared directly on top of the colony dome. He looked down and observed the local population.

Betraying Milo's expectation, there was no population. Only a bunch of players and their subordinates were inside. As for Milo's subordinates and his population, they were piled into a mountain in front of the gigantic manor, which was Max's former house and headquarters.

"News travels fast. That idiot died a few days ago, but hyenas from various clans already made their moves. I bet the other city has already been raided and robbed clean. Still, why haven't they destroyed the manor? They could have gotten everything that way…"

Milo was baffled. He teleported again and appeared directly inside the colony.

Overlord Milo reverted to his true form, which was a gigantic Fenrir wolf. He landed in front of Max's manor and found a dozen werewolf sages in the front manor's yard.

The sages sensed the presence of a great wolf. They rushed toward Milo and lowered their heads.

"Greetings, overlord. Are you here to raid this domain or are you here to defend it?"

The 12 sages were bolder than Milo had imagined. He questioned them.

"You should be answering my question! What are you doing here?! Don't you know that Overlord Max is my colleague?!"

"…We know. That's why we have been protecting this headquarters since Overlord Max died."

Milo narrowed his eyes as he discovered the inconsistencies in their words. First, Milo just received a report that a player had recently invaded this planet an hour ago. This short timeframe wasn't enough for these hyenas to enter this colony before him.

Secondly, the corpses of the local population seemed fresh. Judging from the scent, they died a few hours ago, which was definitely before the invader appeared.

The evidence showed that they didn't come here through by relying on the system's help. Instead, they traveled here by themselves and slaughtered the local population for some reason.

Milo turned around and observed the life signatures in the massive colony. Several Fenrir werewolves still ran inside the skyscraper buildings as if they were searching for something. Many objects inside the buildings vanished whenever a werewolf got closer.

It wasn't hard to guess what they did. There werewolves were looting and plundering the empty city.

"Smart, but not wise," Milo commented. "You people came here, slaughtered the townspeople, and robbed them without destroying the main headquarters. Because you traveled here yourselves and the local population opens the doors to welcome you, the system doesn't inform me or others that the domain is invaded. Even after you killed them, the system ignores it because it treats the incidents as local genocides."

"…"

The expressions of the sages changed. They pulled out their weapons and glared at the giant wolf.

"Overlord. Please respect our choices. Overlord Max is dead. His properties, cultivation resources, and artifacts should be passed down to fellow fenrirs of the junior generation. You can't possibly hog all of them since they are not yours."

"PFFT! You finally show your true color, you hyena thieves!"

Overlord Milo opened his mouth and pulled out a long burning sword from his throat. His wolf's hand transformed into monkey-like hands so that he could hold the giant flame sword.

"Drop all your spatial rings and all items in your inventory system. Otherwise, I'll cut you down and attack your colonies, too! You don't wanna know what I can do to your families, do you?"

The sages glared at Overlord Milo and shouted. "Don't get cocky! Our cultivation bases are only better than ours! You alone can't defeat us all!"

"Wanna try?" Overlord Milo cackled and was about to swing his black flame sword.

BOOOOOOM

Suddenly, a large explosion erupted from the front of the colony's entrance gateway. It was so loud that Milo turned around to look.

WHOOSH

A black silhouette flew out of the dust and floated in the sky under the colony dome. He patted his suit and looked around.

"This is getting annoying. I just want some good smoke. Why did those wolves fire rocket launchers at me? I've come in peace!"
