White Onlinechapter 677: the birth of white online.

"These goddamn humans!" A demon roared and ran across the empty streets while thundering footsteps echoed behind him. He was chased by dozens of screaming players!

The demon felt humiliated and angry that he was forced to retreat. He had always taken pride in the strength of his race—the strongest race in the entire universe.

Now, he was being chased by those pitiful, weak humans. He thought he could kill them with ease.

The demons didn't take into account that humans were indeed weak, but that was only in their ordinary forms. When they used their avatars, they were as strong as demons, some even stronger!

This was the goal of the primordial gods when they decided to overcome that weakness. They knew humans wouldn't be of any help in their weak forms; they were, after all, hindered by the chains, and it wasn't possible to remove them without killing the person.

Thus, after the legacy figures couldn't surpass the primordial gods, they thought for years about how to get humans to help them. Then, they came to the conclusion that if they were without chains, they would be incredibly helpful.

However, since the chains couldn't be removed, they had to do it the other way. Thus, the avatars were created, and they were programmed so that there weren't any chains to block them from growing stronger. With Arthur's incredible intelligence, he created classes and the XP system.

The avatars' job was to help them in fighting demons in the World of White. However, there was still one problem, and that was Four Seasons. If the demons attacked there, the gods would lose without the help of humans.

They had to find a way to remove the chains from the humans, after all, but there was only one way. They sought Morphius' help and found out that, with the help of legacy figures, it would be possible to "break" the chains.

Thus, legacies were created, and these basically connected legacy figures with the avatars. That was the only way to break the chains, but there weren't enough legacies for every human race.

So, Arthur decided that he would make everyone actively seek out legacies while promising wealth, fame, and power to everyone who could. It worked perfectly.

The demons might've attacked sooner than expected, but humans succeeded in becoming strong enough to be of some help. There were humans who were as strong as gods, but it was still not enough.

They were greatly outmatched in the Four Seasons, but in the World of White, humanity had a powerful army of players!

"Catch him!" The players shouted and followed the demon to an desolate alleyway. The demon used the walls and jumped to the roof. He sighed in slight relief after seeing the players shouting in the alleyway and leaving.

"Fucking insec—"

Bang!

A bullet tore through the demon's skull and killed him.

"Whew." On top of a nearby roof, a player in the Hitman class holstered his smoking pistol. He was smiling, but a few drops of cold sweat poured down his back.

All the streets were a battlefield between players and demons. It wasn't anymore the fun game, loved by everyone, but instead a battlefield to decide the fate of the human race.

He still remembered the first month of White Online, when he ran home from school and used his Bronze VR Helmet. He joined his friends in the beginner's village and had fun till the time limit.

Even years later, he still played with his high school friends till the time limit and sometimes even missed dinners because they were on a quest.

None of his friends came online today since they were moving out of the city with their families. He was also currently in a car with his family on the way to visit their grandparents, which might be the last time they see them.

He secretly took his VR Helmet with him and told his parents that he would watch some movies after revealing the helmet inside the car.

As he watched some movies, the announcement with the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen appeared. After the announcement, he was scared shitless, but he was tired of cowering in fear like his parents and decided to enter the game.

The scene shocked him deeply. All the players were as scared as he was; some even shed tears, but they all came here to face their fears.

He was only level 155, far from the top players and could be called mediocre at best. However, he still fought valiantly with only two pistols dangling from his hands.

Bang, bang, bang!

...

"Something is not right." Lucifer's frown deepened. "They are doing something, but what..."

He flicked his sleeves and teleported away from the spaceship. He appeared in the space above the spaceships, where the rest of the Kings and Lords had gathered.

"Where is Erebus?" he asked in his eternally cold voice.

The Demon Kings and Lords didn't answer because they didn't know the answer.

Then, they all turned to Tartarus, the only person who should know where he is.

Lucifer's eyes grew a degree colder.

Tartarus shriveled under his cold gaze. "I-I don't know."

Lucifer glimpsed at the massive world of the Four Seasons and said, "We can assume Erebus has betrayed us, but he won't be welcomed back to the other gods."

Tartarus lowered his head as everyone's gaze suddenly felt very hostile. He could only scream profanities at Erebus, who was the person who convinced him to betray others.

"Where is Asmodeus?" Lucifer asked while looking around.

"He returned to the God Realm." Mammon revealed with a sneer.

Lucifer's eyebrow twitched. "Hmph, I feel like Satan's disappearance involves something grave. So far, we'd been on offense but couldn't win any proper battles. So, we have to bring humanity to their knees."

The Demon Kings and Lords nodded. They only needed a word, and they would attack the Four Seasons at the same time.

"Lord Lucifer!" An ordinary soldier demon shouted from one of the ships. "We are under attack in the World of White. Millions of humans appeared out of nowhere!"

The Demon Kings and Lords looked at the soldier demon, causing him to pass out just by being looked at.

"Aha." Lucifer sneered. "So, this was their plan? Not bad, but, we don't need World of White and only need Four Seasons.

"Tell everyone to retreat from the planet or they will vanish along with those disgusting humans."
