Chapter 179 : The misfit
Avos Dilhevia’s source was in pieces.
The next moment, however, a magic circle for the <Source Regeneration Agronemt> spell was drawn inside her body, regenerating her source.
Then she weakly grabbed my arm with her hand.
“…This isn’t… over yet…” (Avos)
“You’re the one who can’t see that you have no chance of winning.” (Anos)
Her eyes shone with a sinister gleam, then she suddenly grinned.
“I am Avos Dilhevia, the Demon King of Tyranny, and the biological daughter of the great spirit Reno. As well as…” (Avos)
Avos Dilhevia opened her fist.
She had a red jewel in her hand.
It was the one Nosgalia was sealed in using the Jewel Sword Eilarrow.
“—the Child of God who will destroy you.” (Avos)
A magic circle appeared over the red jewel, and the <Seal Curse Bind Restoration Laeluente> spell was activated.
Right after that, the red jewel levitated in the air.
“I shall bestow upon thee the wisdom of a god, ignorant Demon King. The plan of a god is absolute. In accordance with her predetermined destiny, Avos Dilhevia has hereby awakened, and by the power of my words, I did her the honor of becoming the Child of God.” (Nosgalia)
Nosgalia’s voice echoed from that jewel.
The Pillage Blade should’ve robbed him of his voice, but I guess that logic was destroyed by the Abolisher of Reason.
“The Child of God has done as my divine plan dictated, and has taken possession of the Abolisher of Reason. And now, it is time for Abernyu, the order and Goddess of Destruction who once fell into this world…” (Nosgalia)
Little by little, the red jewel cracked and shattered with a clink.
The one who appeared in its place, clad in a pale light, was Nosgalia.
Unable to maintain his divine body anymore, he reappeared in the form of the demon Eldmade.
However, his face was showing a level of arrogance that said everything went as he wanted.
“To awaken.” (Nosgalia)
Nosgalia raised both of his arms.
And just as he did, Avos Dilhevia muttered.
“Anos Voldigoad.” (Avos)
She slightly moved her right hand, which had the Abolisher of Reason in it.
“…I am still in control of everything…” (Avos)
As she spoke, she thrusted the sword into her own chest, into her own source.
Her magic power was transferred into the Abolisher of Reason.
Delsgade began to tremble loudly.
“Once upon a time, the Demon King of Tyranny brought the Goddess of Destruction, who illuminated the world with her order of destruction, down to this land. He renamed the goddess Abernyu the Demon King Castle Delsgade, and the miracle that condensed her divine authority, her order of destruction, was renamed Venuzdonoa, the Abolisher of Reason.” (Nosgalia)
In a solemn fashion, Nosgalia proclaimed.
“Why did not the Demon King destroy the Goddess of Destruction Abernyu, the source of all death and destruction, even though he sought peace? The answer is all too clear: it was impossible for even the Demon King of Tyranny to destroy the very order of destruction that was Abernyu.” (Nosgalia)
The Abolisher of Reason got blacker than ever, looked more sinister, and was glowing dark.
“As a last resort, Anos Voldigoad deprived the world of the order of destruction by restricting and altering the purpose of Abernyu’s power. Thus was born the miracle that is the Abolisher of Reason, destroyer of all order and logic.” (Nosgalia)
Nosgalia slowly clutched both of his upraised hands.
“However, this was too foolish a choice. For it is impossible for a divine order to eternally remain in a different form. All orders eventually regain their original purpose. What do ye think will happen then?” Nosgalia said as if asking a question, which he answered himself.
“The backlash of all the destruction that could not take place so far will surge forward. Like the water of a dammed river eventually bursting its banks. Thou mayest have thought that thou hadst saved the world by taking away the power of the Goddess of Destruction, but thou hadst merely postponed the issue.” (Nosgalia)
As if to shove reality into our faces, Nosgalia exclaimed.
“Nay, all the years thou spent suppressing that power only served to make it grow to extraordinary proportions!” (Nosgalia)
Nosgalia shot a glance at me with his Magic Eyes faintly glowing red.
“The point of Avos Dilhevia embodying the rumors and legends of the Demon King of Tyranny was not to defeat thee, but to awaken the Goddess of Destruction Abernyu, and her immense magic power.” (Nosgalia)
Avos Dilhevia fell on her back with a clunk, as if she had used up almost all of her magic power.
The Abolisher of Reason, which she had stabbed herself with, pulled itself out of her body, and slowly levitated in the air.
The outline of the dark sword distorted itself, then it took a spherical shape while exuding a sinister torrent of magic power.
“Now, gaze up at the heavens, ye ignorant peons. For here and now, the miracle of the Goddess of Destruction who brought all forms of death and destruction during the Mythical Age, the <Sun of Destruction> Surgeldonave, is restored!” (Nosgalia)
Unable to withstand the aftershock of that intense magic power, the ceiling of Delsgade was blown away.
Looking up, the moon was high in the sky.
On the opposite side of it, there was a huge shadow.
Without a single cloud in the sky, and illuminated by the twinkling of the stars, the shadow of the sun appeared there.
Black particles began to gather around it.
The moon faded away, and the sky turned brighter, as if night and day were being reversed.
The shadow of the sun got even darker, giving the sky an ominous aspect.
“Show me thine order as the Child of God, Avos Dilhevia. Follow its logic, and destroy both Demon Kings of Tyranny. Along with every other living being!” (Nosgalia)
The huge shadow in the sky retracted itself, and a dark sun appeared there.
The <Sun of Destruction>, Surgeldonave. Its black light of destruction, with the stench of cold death, poured down on Delsgade.
“Embrace the light of Surgeldonave, the order of destruction that thou hast been distorting for more than two thousand years, and atone for that deadly sin, Demon King of Tyranny!” (Nosgalia)
The entire throne room was enveloped in the light of destruction.
This was the black light of the <Sun of Destruction> Surgeldonave, which erased and destroyed everything.
“He who doth not abide by order, he who disrupts order, brings destruction to the world. Anos Voldigoad, if thou hadst not foolishly opposed a god, Avos Dilhevia would have never been born. And both the Disastrous God-Slaying Sword and the Great Spirit Mother could have lived in peace. Thou mayest despise the gods, but gods are order. There is no personal will or feeling behind our actions.” (Nosgalia)
As the dark light filled the world, only Nosgalia’s voice resounded.
“Just as gravity pulls everything down, and just as sources follow the endless cycle of death and rebirth, gods remain as the laws and orders of this world. Which means, thou were the one solely responsible for this turn of events, Anos Voldigoad. The gods are never guilty of anything. Foolish living beings can only ever blame themselves for the tragedies that occur.” (Nosgalia)
The stillness of the light engulfed the area, and it seemed as if time had stopped.
The black <Sun of Destruction> Surgeldonave then gradually dimmed its radiance, and the Throne Room steadily regained its colors.
“Here is my closing statement as I now lower the curtain on this long farce, at last. Destruction is divine salvation. If those who are to perish do not, the next generation cannot be born. It was a mistake to bend that rule out of self-interest to begin with. So this was karmic retribution.” (Nosgalia)
“Oh, really?” (Anos)
Nosgalia’s look of arrogance was replaced with one of shock.
“You act like a bystander who has nothing to do with anything, then you ridicule and abuse from a safe distance those who struggle to survive. And to top it all off, you lay the blame for all the tragedies that have taken place over the past two thousand years on others, huh.” (Anos)
At the sound of my voice, Nosgalia was at a complete loss for words.
With an astonished look on his face, his eyes darted around the room.
“This world has no need for a god like you.” (Anos)
The dark light gradually cleared up, revealing the state of the room.
“……Wha……?!” (Nosgalia)
Nosgalia froze up after seeing my face.
And not just me. Whether it was Shin, Lay, Misa, or Reno, no one here had suffered a single wound from the <Sun of Destruction>.
And it was the same for all the people in Midhaze.
The only one who was obliterated by the <Sun of Destruction> was Avos Dilhevia.
“…This cannot be…” (Nosgalia)
“Did you really think the Goddess of Destruction could destroy me?” (Anos)
“…The order of a god is absolute. It is inconceivable for the goddess who rules over destruction to fail to destroy a single demon… Such a thing… is not possible… It should not be…” (Nosgalia)
Nosgalia was repeating how impossible it was, as if he had partially lost his mind.
