The Extra's Survivalchapter 227: bloodline upgrade potion[2]

Lucas shook his head with a saddened expression.

Seeing the bloodline potion which is simply a treasure even for the Kingdom, Lucas thought that his parents might have known something about the bloodline ability, alas he got nothing.

Lucas rubbed his chin pondering for a moment and asked "Then are there any relatives alive from your side?"

"No."

Leonard directly shook his head with a sorrowful expression.

Lucas nodded and looked at their mother who seemed to be in deep thought.

Eleanor noticed Lucas's gaze and felt a little uncomfortable.

"Then, a mother from your side…?" Lucas asked with a hint of expectation in his eyes.

Eleanor shook her head but then nodded.

"Mom, Are you saying yes or no?" Lucas asked.

"There are still relatives from my side," Eleanor said.

"Why have I never seen them? Have they ever visited us?" Lucas asked.

"No, they are too far away here. Moreover, they are a little higher status than us." Eleanor muttered.

Lucas looked at his mom's stiffened expression and felt as if his mother's relations with her relatives may not be good.

"So, mom, are my grandparents still alive?" Lucas asked with a cautious expression.

Eleanor's eyes widened for a moment and she replied hurriedly, "They are alive and might be doing well."

"But why didn't you ever mention them?"

"That...what to say…?" Eleanor stuttered in her speech.

Lucas saw his mom's uneasy expression for the first time and stared at his father with questioning eyes.

"I got it." Lucas muttered faintly.

"Huh? Got it...What did you get?" Eleanor spoke with a panicked tone.

"You eloped with dad and my grandparents must not have agreed to the marriage," Lucas spoke while rubbing his chin.

"Cough...Cough…" Leonard coughed violently and looked at Lucas with an embarrassed gaze. "Yeah, it was something like that."

"So, shouldn't you make up for it and try to appease them after all it had been so long since you have been married and they even have a grandson?" Lucas spoke while changing his gaze from his mother to his father.

"Yeah, we will sincerely consider it, so brat don't embarrass us anymore." Leonard spoke while trying to hide his face.

Lucas just didn't want the situation to become so awkward so he tried to mediate but seeing their expression they knew that something was amiss.

Seeing his mother's nervous expression while fidgeting her fingers, he decided to find their information with Julian's help.

"Okay, Lucas now it's time for important things." Leonard spoke and took the bloodline upgrade bottle.

"Lucas, we used half of it on you and now there is still half vial left in it. We want you to deliver it to someone." Leonard asked.

Lucas nodded and asked whom he had to deliver.

"To Eckart's."

Lucas who heard the name suddenly felt as if a huge hammer fell on his head and he clutched his chest as he felt that his heart skipped a beat.

"Father, I don't know if it is a joke or deliberate to kill your son by a heart attack," Lucas said, aghast. "But if you want to kill me for real, please don't use such tactics."

"I am not kidding, son," Leonard spoke with a solemn expression.

The entire atmosphere descended into silence for a moment. Except for Lucas's heavy breathing, everything seemed to cease for a moment.

Lucas felt as if just now he had suffered some emotional damage.

He looked at his mother for consolation who just averted her gaze as if she was feeling guilty for hiding this.

"Just how...are we related to them?" Lucas spoke with trembling lips after Eckarts, the wealthiest merchant in this world whose wealth can rival a kingdom's treasury.

'Don't tell me I am sort of a young master of a big family and my parents are in a hiding place due to certain situations and I have to take revenge for them. Isn't this type of setting only existing in wuxia?'

"It's also related to your great grandpa. Before he fell in love with great-grandma, Eckart's daughter was chosen as a fiancee."

"So, our house used to rival them before." Lucas asked with a curious expression.

"No, Eckart's weren't what they are now. They were just normal wealthy merchants nothing more than that. Everything changed when someone in their house found mana crystal and mana veins. That was where their foundation lay previously. Though now their wealth has various sources. It was not like that before." Leonard said.

"So…grandpa was a troublemaker. A player of the maiden's heart." Lucas concluded.

"Yeah, you are correct about that." Leonard nodded. That old man had destroyed a whole generation for love. Still, his love was commendable.

"Since he broke up the engagement he needed to pay for something, so Eckarts asked for this." Leonard spoke while pointing towards the vial.

"With Eckart's superior forces can't they take it from us by force?" Lucas asked.

"No, both the sides had taken a mana oath at that time. Grandpa wanted to delay this to make other preparations and put forward a condition that we only give this when they would have a daughter. No, you are thinking, where did their daughter come in the middle of this? So before that, you need to know about their bloodline." Leonard explained.

"The Eckart's have a berserker bloodline and due to this bloodline, daughters are rarely born. Their characteristics are red hair, hot-blooded, and losing themselves while fighting to become a maniac."

Lucas, who heard their characteristic, suddenly looked at his mother pointing at her hair.

She had the characteristic red hair of Eckart's and Lucas had read the description of Eckart's princess who had red hair and Phoenix-like eyes when Frederick met with her.

"Mother, don't tell me you are an Eckart!" Lucas exclaimed.

"I got it, everything makes sense now. You ran away from home due to some reason and fell in love with a 4-Star rank mercenary but how can people with their status allow this? So they might have opposed this marriage and you have no choice but to elope and stay hidden here."

"No, Lucas this isn't it." Eleanor started to stop Lucas from thinking and his wild thoughts.

But another thing came to his mind as he thought about his mother's rank.
