"Ray, don't do anything stupid. We don't want any trouble. Besides, the only reason I had to kill Timothy was that he threatened to take my daughter, and I don't regret what I had to do," William said in a somber tone.
*Click!*
Suddenly the kitchen door opened, and Jacob said frantically, "Ray, the girl is not here!"
Ray's brows raised in surprise, and he turned around to ask the same to William only to see two guns being pointed at him.
"No need to bother looking for her. We knew you guys would come one day. So we took measures to hide her beforehand in a place where you and your men will never find her," William said with a subtle smile.
Jacob was about to ready his gun, but Laina shouted, "Hold still if you don't want a bullet in your head! And come inside after closing the door," Laina didn't want the others to get alert by the tense situation happening inside the kitchen.
Jacob slowly entered and closed the door behind him while Ray cautiously raised his hands as he slowly walked sideways, not bothering to reach out for his gun, "William, you are making a big mistake here. Your guns might be effective in taking care of me and the other three. But are you sure they are enough to take care of those Ascended men? I also forget to mention that those two are pseudo-Alphas, only below the Alphas in power level."
William and Laina's expressions turned grave since this was their worst fear. Their guns could help them hold off Ray and the other three soldiers. But was it enough to hold back the two Ascended men?"
"You are quite a liar, Ray. You offered us your disgusting proposition early. So why are you searching for our daughter if you didn't really care about taking her back?" William asked with a glowering expression.
Ray dryly chuckled as he said, "Oh, you misunderstand, William. Didn't I tell you that my men and I were only here for some fun after a long and tiring journey? So other than your wife, I thought your daughter could also greatly help us reduce our stress."

She's just a girl who would be no older than your own daughter. And you still harbor such wicked thoughts?" William said in a disgusted tone while Laina was seething with anger, feeling a great impulse to kill Ray on the spot.
She still somehow held back her anger when Ray said that he wanted to sleep with her. But now, hearing that he and his men were planning for a gangbang with mother and daughter made her blood boil.
"William, we have to kill him...and the others as well. Otherwise, they will never stop," Laina said in a dark tone as she turned off the safety of her pistol.
"Whoa, whoa. Easy there, Laina. If you fire that gun, everyone will come rushing over here, and you will achieve nothing!" Ray finally regretted speaking such things since he never thought that Laina would get so angry enough to dare to shoot him.
He loved his life and had no plans to die just because he angered someone with his words. He was feeling confident that they wouldn't shoot since he had other men, including two Ascended ones, to take care of these two.
"Laina, calm down. You know what we have to do," William whispered, hinting at the fact that they had to buy time for Nathasia as much as possible. So, he wanted her not to give into anger and instead keep these men at bay for as long as possible.
And about what happens after that, they would just leave it to fate or die trying to kill all these men...this was the despairing thought the couple had in mind.
Jacob, who saw that Laina was momentarily distracted because of William whispering something to her and decided to take this chance to quickly reach out for his gun.
Laina caught him moving and didn't hesitate to fire her pistol.
*BANG!*

Ray was shocked and quickly tried to hide by taking advantage of the confusion.
But William quickly came forward and held Ray's vest, "Don't move lest you want to end up like your friend."
Ray didn't dare to move a muscle and nodded only to have a gun on the back of his neck.
William heard the loud footsteps approaching the kitchen, so he decided to push out Ray through the door first before they surrounded him and Laina.
"Laina, stick right behind me!" William frantically said as he got out of the kitchen with Ray as his shield only to see two powerful rifles pointed towards him and the two Ascended men looking at him as if they were looking at a dead man.
"Don't try anything, or I will shoot him!" William threatened as he switched off the safety of his pistol and pressed his pistol's muzzle onto Ray's nape.
"Don't shoot! Just back off!" Ray said in a tone of panic.
Feeling the cold end of the pistol pressed against his neck, Ray grimaced, heavily regretting being so overconfident.
He was sure William and Laina couldn't survive this, but he was concerned about his life. Who cared if the others killed William and Laina after he died?

Rick and Toby backed down slowly while the two Ascended, Reinhard and Vitaly, didn't seem to move a muscle but instead kept on staring at William as if they were the least bothered about Ray's life.
Ray's worst fears came true since he already guessed that these two wouldn't care about the life of a weakling like him.
"You two...please...we can work this out. Don't do anything for now," Ray said while sweating.
"Tell us where the girl is, and you two will at least live," Reinhard gruffly said as he looked at William, ignoring Ray's pleas, and didn't even bother to glance at him.
William wryly smiled, "We both know you are lying. And even if that was true, you won't ever find her even if you step over our dead bodies."
Meanwhile, a few minutes ago, Marcus and Nathasia had reached quite a distance away from her house till she could only see a vague outline of her house from afar.
Nathasia still couldn't hold back her tears, and Marcus saw her continuously sobbing while trying to keep up with him. Her legs strangely seemed to lose most of their strength, making her run slower.
At first, Marcus decided to ignore it since he didn't want to get into any conflict that could likely compromise his identity.
Even the fact that he was taking this girl to safety was something he usually would not have done since it was supposed to be none of his business. But for some reason, he didn't have the heart to leave her alone.
Spending over a month with her, he realized he had unconsciously at least considered her as a good friend and a subconscious instinct to protect her in case she faced any danger.
And seeing her sobbing continuously without uttering any complaints made it obvious to Marcus that she was forcing herself to stay strong and listen to her parent's words.
Marcus saw the jeep earlier and knew that it was a military jeep with a blue insignia in the front, which made him realize that there were Ascended ones in that jeep. The blue insignia was there to make others realize that important people were sitting in the jeep, and it was obvious that the Ascended ones were the important ones here.
He could see that she was desperately trying to stifle her sobs but couldn't since she was never prepared or ready to face such a situation.
After a lot of internal struggles and hesitation, he said as she stopped, "Stop!"
Nathasia had a confused expression seeing Marcus stop in front of her. She couldn't understand why he suddenly stopped and was about to ask why when Marcus said, "You hide here. I will go and save your parents."
Nathasia had a perplexed expression, "W-What?" Then her thoughts hit her as she said, "N-No, you can't! You said those were military men, and they have huge guns. You can't risk your life."
Nathasia was already feeling bad and guilty that her parents were trying to sacrifice themselves for her safety. So, the last thing she wanted was the only person she considered close and the only person who was with her right now to leave her as well.
Marcus gripped her shoulder and said in a reassuring tone, "You know how strong I am, right? I will easily take care of those men and bring you back when the coast is clear. Till then, don't move from here. Okay? Don't try to stop me since time is of the essence here. I will see you soon."
Before Nathasia could say anything, Marcus dashed back towards her house at an insane speed.
Nathasia's eyes welled up again as she never thought that Marcus would be this concerned about her. She knew he probably left because of her.
However, because of this, she hated herself for letting everyone else fight for her and being so useless.
She felt that there was no point in living if something bad happened to everyone she cared about.
So, she took a deep breath and moved forward in the direction of her house with resolute eyes.
