After hearing Ning's orders, Hyesi went back to climbing up the tree and falling down to make his body stronger. Ning just sighed as he watched the kid do that.
"What are you trying to do kid?" he couldn't help but ask.
"Oh, Inikaka, I'm trying to jump up and down the tree so that I can be stronger." Hyesi's answer made no sense to Ning. So, he decided to ask,
"And what does that do? Does jumping up and down the tree make you stronger?"
"Yes. Only when a klavian is able to not feel any pain from falling down from the top of a tree are they considered to have become strong. So, I have been climbing up and down so I can not feel any pain at all."
Ning was surprised at that answer, "Oh, and is it working? Are you getting stronger?"
"Yes," Hyesi said with a smile. He seemed to be pretty happy with the result. Ning was even more surprised to hear that such an idiotic method was working.
"Wait, are you really getting stronger? Can you now hit harder or carry more weight?" Ning decided to ask.
"Well, Inikaka, not really. I am getting stronger but I cannot do those things yet. Maybe it will come to me soon." Hyesi said as he got gloomy again.
"They why do you say you are getting stronger?"
Hyesi thought for a moment and answered, "Ever since I learned that you are strong only when you don't feel pain after falling from the top of the tree, I have been doing that every day. Although it used to hurt a lot at first, slowly I have been able to feel less and less pain. The more I fall, the less pain I feel. So I should be getting stronger right?"
Ning was silent for a moment. 'Holy Sh*t! This kid has fallen so much that he is already getting numb to the pain.'
"How long have you been doing this for?" he asked.
Hyesi counted the days and answered, "About halfway between my last day of birth and today."
'Halfway? So six months? This kid has been doing this for six months huh. Poor kid, not even the villagers tell him what to do.'
"Alright, I will teach you a faster way to get stronger. Do what I say and you will get strong."
"Yes, Inikaka." Hyesi would obey every single one of his god's words.
For the entire day, Ning made Hyesi do multiple different exercises. He made him squat a few hundred times, push up for another few hundred times. Same with sit-ups.
He also made him run straight through the forest from one end of the island to the other. The distance that Hyesi ran was about 2-3 kilometers in length. After learning from Hyesi that the island was circular in shape, he could finally envision exactly how big the island was.
Instead of running through the middle, Ning made Hyesi run around the beach now. Hyesi was doing that when he saw a few figures far away. He immediately ran towards there.
'Who are they?' Ning thought as he saw the people from far away too.
"Chief, everyone, are you people fine?" Hyesi asked as soon as he reached the people.
'Chief?' Ning finally recognized who these people were. He had only seen a glimpse before he was taken away, but he remembered the leader of the group that found him.
He looked at the disheveled faces of everyone in the group. 'Why do they look like they went through a war? Didn't they just come here to fish?' Ning thought as he looked at the nets and spears the members of the group were holding.
'Oh right, they were talking about killing something back in the village? Is that what they fought?' Ning looked around the beach looking for corpses but saw none.
'Where is their target?' he wondered. In his mind, the people here were super strong and could kill anything that they wanted to.
"Oh, why are you here, Hyesi?" one of the ladies asked.
"I was trying to become stronger by running around the beach," Hyesi said. If Ning hadn't told him to not talk about him when Hyesi first ran through the forest, he might have revealed it just now.
"Go back, boy. The demon can come back at any moment now. We were lucky we sent you back yesterday. Otherwise, You, with your weak body, would've surely died today." The chief started speaking as soon as he saw Hyesi.
Hyesi's eyes turned wild. " You people fought Fufuliki?" he asked.
"Yes. We met the demon and fought with it. However, we were wrong. The demon has grown and become much stronger than we had expected him to be. And his enchantments have gotten even stronger."
"At this rate, we might have to return empty-handed as well," the chief said.
BOOM
Suddenly, a sound rang out from the ocean.
"Run!!" the chief shouted at Hyesi. Hyesi didn't waste a moment. He knew he was weak and so, the moment the chief shouted, he ran.
Ning only got to see a column of water shoot out from the ocean as something popped out from underneath. But because Hyesi turned his back towards the ocean, he could no longer see anything.
Within a few minutes, Hyesi returned back home. The people in the village saw him running frantically, and asked him what was going on. All Hyesi could say was what the chief had told him.
When the people heard that the demon named Fufuliki was stronger than they had imagined, they started to get worried. Belini came to Hyesi and hugged him
"It's okay, son. You did well running away. If the demon is strong, then you would've only been a hamper at best or died at worst." Belini tried to comfort Hyesi, but that just seemed like an insult to him.
"I promise mother. I will get stronger than I am currently, and I will surely kill the demon Fufuliki."
