The magic of Candar was the weirdest one that Ning had ever come across. It was a power based on the darkness of the person's skin.
Or more accurately, it was a power based on the level of Melanin in a person's skin. While most other worlds had their energy stored in a core that formed in one's body, this one stored it in the melanin that was formed in one's body. The energy that formed was nameless. It was just so unique that people around the multiverse called it by different names.
Here, the people called energy Color, and the power one got through it is their Melability.
Ning wondered how such a unique magic system could even possibly grow in this world, only to find out that there was no energy in this world at all.
There was no origin here at all.
Surprisingly, the energy didn't even originate on this planet, but on the planet closest to the sun in this solar system. That planet, due to its closeness to the sun had so much energy that it had formed an origin where this unique energy flowed out of.
That energy then settled on the surface of the planet where there was no atmosphere, and when the sun blasted on it with its hot rays, it reflected the light back to the sun, but this time with the 'Color' energy added to it.

The energy was then shot everywhere in space. Just a fraction of that energy fell on Candar, and even less of that fraction was what the people absorbed on a daily basis.
Even so, the amount was enough that people of this world had developed strong magic through just that alone.
Using one's Melability costs one not just Color, but also their melanin. The loss meant that one could use their magic again only when their body made more melanin if it ever did. Since a person could store Color in one's melanin, they could store it in 3 different locations.
The first and the easiest place was their skin. A person's skin is the largest organ of their body and thus could hold a lot of melanin. While one's body did have a limit on how much melanin it could produce, it usually was a large amount regardless of the person.

Just staying out in the sun for a while was enough to cause the body to grow more melanin, and thus most people used the Color from their The next location was the hair. Unlike skin, hair could hold a lot less melanin. And it could also not get back melanin so easily without growing back the hair. As such, most people didn't bother using the Color stored in their hair at all.
Finally, the last place one could store Color was in the melanin in their eyes.
The melanin in one's eyes was little, but perhaps because of the amount, or because of the fact that melanin could not grow in the eyes, the use of Color stored in there was usually the greatest.
Of the three storage of Melanin, people preferred using Skin, followed by Hair. No one liked using the Color in their eyes as they couldn't get it back.
Ning was left stunned by all the information. "So wait, the energy is coming from another planet? That is so weird," Ning said. "So, I just got lucky in a way because I had changed my skin to have a lot of melanin?"
<Yes. You also went deeper into the Sunside where the sun was very high. Not to mention, you absorb all energy very quickly.>
"Oh yeah, that's true," Ning said and looked at his palm. "So this tattoo means I've received a Melability, correct? Does one know what Melability they received or do they have to use and find out?"
<You have to use and find out.>
"Alright then, let's go find out," Ning said and disappeared from the throne he had been sitting on. He arrived in the frigid color north where the air wet his naked feet as it splashed around with his every walk.
He walked to the top of a small rock hill and stood at the top, watching the massive bright moon of this world.
"Alright, let's test it out," Ning said, but his voice barely reached anywhere beyond his own ears. It was a weird feeling when the moment he opened his mouth to speak, the air in his lungs both turned to liquid and boiled at the same time.
Ning ignored the feeling as he had felt it on occasion in the space.
He looked in a certain direction and found a tall cliff. He pointed his hand in that direction and used his powers.
Using his power was as simple as thinking about using it. The moment he did, something weird happened.
His body suddenly changed.
His fingers suddenly changed into sharp claws, while two horns grew out of his head. At the same time, wings grew out from his back, feathered and with nearly twice his height as wingspan.
Ning looked back with surprise and slowly felt his own wings. He could feel his fingers brushing against his feathers, all sensations returned to his mind.
Those were his wings.
'A transformation magic,' Ning thought. 'That's not half bad.'
He teleported back to the Sunside which had an atmosphere and started flapping his wings to fly. He was easily capable of doing on.
Not only that, he could tell that had he been a regular person, he would've most likely improved in strength, agility, and defense by at least twice on all fronts.
This was a wonderful skill for anyone to have. Ning thought for a moment and willed the transformation to be undone.
He could see that his skin had lost its darkness ever so slightly as his Melanin levels had dropped. However, there was still enough to go around.
So, he stayed in the sun for a while to see if he could get more tattoos, and with them, more powers.
