Pause System: Harem In The Apocalypsechapter 125: 125: the giant white cobra

*Spurt* *Spurt* *Spurt*

Blood gushed out from the cuts and stabs on it's eyes as let out an ear-piercing screech. The two large fangs in it's mouth, were sliced off along with it's gums down it's throat.

It wailed out in pain as it's figure dived back down into the jungle, fading into the distance as it hid itself beneath the tree leaves.

The girl who could finally move, swung her blade cancelling out her flames before sheathing them.

She turned to Gray as he handed her other Katana back.

"Here," He said, casually.

The girl couldn't help but stare at Gray.

She narrowed her eyes and asked. "Aren't you... A bit too strong?"

"Maybe. Mind telling me who you are again? And how you ended up here with me?" Gray asked.

She looked around checking to see if there were anymroe monsters around, before sitting down on the platform.

"There's not much to say."

The girl explained to him that her name was Delta and that she had gotten on the ship undercover under orders from the corps to keep track of my progress and make sure she wouldn't betray the US.

When the ship began breaking down, she grabbed onto him and next thing she knew, she woke up in the middle of nowhere on top of him,

Gray didn't expect her to be so straightforward. He was quite suspicious of it in fact.

"Doesn't undercover mean to not let me know about all of this?" He asked.

"There's no point in keeping it a secret." She muttered before laying down and staring at the night sky.

It was unusually warm despite it being so dark out.

"My orders were simple, if you are deemed a threat, I am to dispose of you." She added with an expressionless face.

"That's cute." Said Gray with a smile.

The girl glanced at him with the same expression to see if he took her words as a joke or was looking down on her.

But to her surprise, it was far from those things. His expression didn't show a shred of fear or any amusement from her words...

It showed a simple gentle smile, but that was exactly what made it frightening.

Did he not care for his life? Or did he just not consider her anything near a threat...?

She who was ranked the highest in the corporation and considered a threat by even her squad members.

"Well that's all the questions that I need answered. I'll be heading off to that city in the far distance in search of my friends and sister now."

Gray created another platform and walked onto it. The girl watched as his figure drew further and further away whilst he walked on the air.

"Don't start any forest fires."

Gray gave a light wave before walking on.

He was trying to organise his thoughts.

He wasn't at all worried about them. If he made it then they most likely did.

Not to mention they were surely together in the ships cabin so they were most likely transported in a group.

The question would be where exactly they'd be transported.

If they were transported to a city full of horned ones then the risk of them being attacked would be high, especially if news of the war was known to many.

On the off chance that they weren't transported to the city but rather somewhere amongst this jungle, or ocean even, that's when things would get dangerous.

There was only one thing he could do.

'System activate the mark of the king and prepare to place all my stat points into agi-'

Gray's thought was cut off as he noticed the girl walking beside him through the corner of his eyes.

"What do you want?" He asked with a sigh.

"I was sent here to keep an eye on you, therefore, I am keeping an eye on you. Is there a problem?" She asked with a stoic face.

Gray stopped and turned to her. His eyes cold and dark, a slight bit of bloodlust was released as he said.

"I'm not in the mood to deal with baggage given to me by those hypocrites."

Gray was referring to the president and executive.

"I already said that I'll end this war. If you plan on killing me later, you might as well try now."

He leaned in towards her and pulled her katana out of her hilt before placing the blade over her neck as he glared into her eyes.

"But if it fails... You know what will happen, don't you?"

Their figures reflected off their similarly coloured eyes as they stared at each other, eye to eye.

The expression on her face didn't change despite his threats and the pressure he was exerting.

Their foreheads were almost touching with how close he was to her.

And yet, it remained stoic and calm.

"I didn't say I would dispose of you, I said it was my order. You saved my life, even if I was ordered to, I wouldn't dare hurt my saviour. Besides... Even if I tried, I'd fail." She said.

Gray narrowed his eyes before backing away, he rubbed the back of his head and clicked his tongue.

She didn't seem to be lying.

And on top of that, he recognised her voice, she was the one who managed to convince the guards to trust him back in the prison facility.

Why help him if she planned to kill him?

Gray didn't know what was going on through her mind, neither did he care.

"If you try anything funny... I'll kill you." He said before moving on.

'...Delta... Huh?'

Delta nodded and followed behind him.

Somewhat excited to explore this new world, Gray began his journey, walking on the air towards the large walls.

Of course, even he knew that his stamina wouldn't last all the way. He'd have to go down into the jungle once again, sooner or later.

"Also that was my first kiss you stole." She said nonchalantly.

Ria's eyes slowly opened and instantly a thought flashed by her mind.

'Where am i...?'

Her thought was interrupted however, as she was quickly greeted by the urge to breathe.
