Ding!
[The First Gunslinger (Veldanyr)] (Special Quest)
Difficulty: A
Firearms used to be a common style of combat within the world of Veldanyr, dominating the battlefield due to its ease of use and its ferocity.
However, due to certain events that had transpired in the past, all traces of this simple yet ferocious combat style had been lost to time. Not even one person could recall the glory days of such a weapon existing in the battlefield.
That was… until you appeared.
Researching the technology necessary to create the weapon from scratch, you have brought firearms back to the world of Veldanyr, even going so far as to use it in actual combat.
With a thousand enemies slain using the combat style you've revived, the heavens have decided to give you another chance at an opportunity you've rejected in the past.
Because you've rejected the opportunity before, the heavens have decided to increase the difficulty of obtaining it as a type of consequence.
But of course, the heavens are fair, with the rewards obtainable from completion being far greater than what it previously was.

[Note: The heavens hope that you make the right choice this time around.]
Reading through the description of the quest and the rewards that came along with completing it, Valyr was left at a slight loss for words.
After all, from what he knew, obtaining a chance to get a second subclass was already difficult to come by.
In fact, back when he was still a player in his past life, he could remember that the number of people with second subclasses only numbered around a couple million or so.
Though that may seem like a lot, it was ultimately a drop in the bucket when compared to the entire world population that played Greater Beyond.
Then again, the current opportunity offered to him was a far rarer occurrence than getting the chance to obtain a second subclass.
As far as he knew, most of those that obtained their second subclass had already transcended their mortalities at that time, becoming Myths that entire planets feared.
On the other hand, the opportunity had appeared in front of him before he had even reached the peak of mortality, something only a few handful of people apart from him had obtained in the past.
Getting over the fact that he could potentially obtain a second subclass, Valyr soon affixed his gaze towards the subclass he would get from completing the quest.
"Prototype Gunner…" muttered the young man, commanding the system to bring up a description of the subclass.
Ding!
Reading through the text he had been given, Valyr found out that the Prototype Gunner subclass was a more bare-bones version of the various gunner classes he had come across in the past.
Of course, because it was so bare-bones, there was a type of flexibility attached to the subclass, something Valyr felt like he could make use of to turn the subclass into something that complemented his other combat styles.
Nevertheless, aside from its stat distribution being the usual distribution for simpler gunner classes, the subclass was pretty solid in Valyr's eyes with all things considered.
Especially with how the subclass seemed tailor-made to synergize with his [The First Gunslinger (Veldanyr)] title.
"Then again, I'll only be able to get my hands on this subclass once I reach Rank 5," said Valyr to himself as he closed the screen he had brought up, bitterly smiling at the quest's objectives.
Though it may not seem like it, a great portion of the objectives needed to complete the quest were quite simple in nature.
If anything, there were only two objectives among them that Valyr felt like he would take a quite bit of time to complete, which was the objective where he needed to create a skill and the objective where he needed to comprehend his Intent.
Even upgrading his arquebus' rarity to have a plus modifier was quite simple with the technological advancements he now had access to, let alone forging an entirely new type of firearm to use.
"Well, from another perspective, my strength would undoubtedly go through a massive boost once I reach Rank 5."
In the end, Valyr decided not to look at the quest from a pessimistic standpoint, letting out a chuckle as he thought about how he'd be able to use the Shard of Defiance at the same rank.
'I wonder if having those two at Rank 5 would be enough for me to surmount the gap that exists between mortals and Myths?'
Just as Valyr began to think about the two items with one of his more important quests in mind, the trial's monotonous voice began to resound through the grounds once more, prompting him to push his thoughts to the side.
'Though you have entered the Gates of Enlightenment with your superb combat strength, that does not mean that the Gates of Awakening are oblivious to the token that you've used to do.'
'Forging is considered one of the four main professions within the Gates of Awakening, a great backbone necessary for a settlement to rise from a village to an everlasting empire.'
'With you having proven in the previous trial that your strength exceeds the confines that have previously shackled you, you must now showcase to the Gates of Awakening that you have not obtained the token by mistake.'
'Showcase to the Gates of Awakening that you have mastery over the profession you have chosen through your token, or else your journey might possibly be cut off short even with your qualifications.'
'With all of that said, your second trial is…'
'The Trial of Four Rarities.'
