MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmithchapter 281: expanding the repertoire some more

With the worry of needing to buy [Polymorph] now being gone, Valyr was quite eager to buy skill books that leaned more on the physical side to offset the great amount of skill books he had bought that leaned more towards the magical side. This eagerness was only compounded by the fact that he now knew how skill books were priced within the emporium, quickly making a list in his mind of skills that would effectively make him a better fighter.

"Could you get me [Sweep], [Cut], and [Parry]?" Informing the young woman attending him of the offensive skills he wanted to buy, Valyr went ahead and opened a screen that contained his skill list, checking what skills he currently had that needed a spear.

Aside from [Serpent Spear Combat Style], which he had already considered a staple of his overall combat style, the only other offensive skill he had in his list that needed a spear was [Strong Pierce]. Of course, he also considered [Tideburst] as another offensive skill that needed a spear, but unlike the previous two, [Tideburst] was a skill imbued within the spear itself.

Pondering over his selection of offensive skills to choose from, the only skill he had that did not cost a lot of mana, as well as existed in his skill list was [Strong Pierce]. If he were to exclude the usage of [Tideburst] and the moves he had access to from [Serpent Spear Combat Style], his combat style would mostly revolve around basic spear movements, with [Strong Pierce] being interspersed here and there.

Of course, he already had experience with that combat style since it was the main combat style he had used while he was still in Astarto Village. However, if he were to continue using that style in the long run, he knew for a fact that he would always be at a disadvantage not only in terms of unpredictability, but also in damage output, which was why people learned skills in the first place.

With that, to expand upon his current combat style, he decided to grab offensive skills similar to [Strong Pierce] that embodied a basic spear movement, which would give him more options to deal more damage aside from relying on [Serpent Spear Combat Style] or on [Tideburst].

At some point, he also thought about incorporating magic into his attacks as well, such as when he used [Crimson Blaze] while fighting against Leron to catch him off guard. Unsurprisingly, he came to the conclusion that if he were to do that, he would obviously become a tough opponent to fight against.

Noticing that the young woman had returned with the three skills he planned on buying, Valyr was about to suggest they head to another section of the building when he noticed that she was having a hard time balancing all the skill books she was carrying. In response, Valyr offered that she gave half of the books she was carrying to him, telling her that he was still planning to buy a few more skills after this.

At first, the young woman rejected the idea, telling her that it was the attendant's duty to aid the customer no matter what. Though, after feeling a hint of pain radiating from both of her forearms, she eventually relented, apologizing to Valyr as she gave half of the skill books to him.

After assuring his attendant that it was fine, the two of them then made their way to the east section of the building, which contained a great selection of buffing skills. Recalling the other buffing skills he already had, specifically the ones that boosted a certain stat for a short time, a memory soon surfaced within Valyr's mind, reminding him of a skill that he could easily obtain.

"[Fleeting Feet] and [Scholar's Sagacity]. Those are the ones I'm looking for." Looking through the various skill books in his surroundings, Valyr eventually informed the young woman of the buffing skills he planned to buy, specifically the ones he lacked in order to obtain the skill that popped up in his mind.

In terms of the mechanics on how one could obtain it, the skill that lingered within Valyr's mind relied on the same process that would allow him to gain a variant of [Polymorph] by relying on eight Common grade skills. Though it came at the cost of losing all of the skills that was used in obtaining the skill, the effects of the skill that was obtained generally made the process worth it.

'It's a shame that the really good skill combinations can only be used once I unlock the skill fusion feature.' Inwardly letting out a low sigh at the thought, Valyr decided to place the thought at the back of his head for now as they slowly made their way to what was one of the largest sections of skills within the building's first floor.

"Here we are, sir. The passive skill section." Hearing these words come out of the young woman's mouth, Valyr pondered over what passive skills he should obtain. Though, after recalling the reason as to why he had obtained the two skills from earlier, Valyr quickly made up his mind on what skills to obtain, thinking he had bought more than enough skills for now.

'My money pouch is going to be crying after this.' Taking in a deep breath as he faintly nodded, Valyr then gave his attendant the list of passive skills he wanted to buy, which came to a total of nine skills. Surprisingly, the young woman informed him that one of the skills he wanted had a higher price than the others due to the skill's long-term value.

After finding out that the price of the skill was just twice as much as the other skills, Valyr told her to still get it, eliciting a delighted smile to appear on her face as she returned to where Valyr was with the skills he asked her to obtain.

"Yeah… I think that's all of the skills I want to buy for now." Finally realizing how much skill books he was buying, it took quite some time for Valyr to compose himself as he told the young woman that he was now going to pay for the skill books he had chosen.

Though saddened by the fact she wasn't able to make him spend even more, a smile still adorned the young woman's face as they made their way to one of the cashiers, wondering how big of a bonus she was going to get from such a large sale.
