*KABOOM*
Explosions began covering the sky as if someone was bursting a bunch of firecrackers.
The cosmic form of Angakok that spanned several kilometres was hit hard, suffering severe damage despite his gigantic size.
Blood Mist Explosion was more or less the pinnacle of blood manipulation techniques, one that Max had only mastered after reaching ' Perfection ' in his bloodline ability.
The power generated by a single droplet of exploding blood was akin to the strength of a fireblast spell and even if his opponent had bled only a few millilitres of blood, Max could potentially paint the sky red with such volume.
The only question now was... was it enough?
The expansion of Angakok's form had made it so that some of the blood particles which were on the surface were now part of his internal expansion, which resulted in severe internal damage to his body as it exploded.
A series of damage notifications covered the sky, with the notifications not being limited to a specific area where a single explosion was taking place and being more widespread.
Angakok's HP bar dropped rapidly and the move he was preparing to unleash was successfully disrupted.
' How? ' Angakok thought in disbelief as he felt his body shrinking back down against his will.
His HP had fallen to a dangerously low level of 11% and despite the support from the time-seed the frail body of Khnum could not support his true Shaman God form any longer.
He had decided to gamble it all by unleashing his ultimate move…. Even if he failed in the end, he wanted to use that attack at least once in his lifetime… Even if he died from the backlash, he wanted the universe to witness his true might! He wanted Max and his allies to feel despair, yet, once again he failed in that simple task as well.
Before he could even unleash his ultimate attack, the attack that was supposed to be an accumulation of a life-time of experiences and the power of the time-seed, Max's counter-attack, one that completely negated his defences by taking him by surprise disrupted it all.
As he fell down from the sky, his form shrinking, Angakok wondered if taking his own life would be the most respectful way to end this fight?
Although he was unable to unleash his ultimate attack, he had burnt up all the divine essence in his body in preparation of the move, so much so that he did not have enough essence left for even a tier6 attack.
His body, which was already hurting all over from the terrifying attack the dwarf had launched, now felt a hundred times worse as he could feel his blood vessels being broken at various points all-across the body.
Without the strength or the will to fight, Angakok wished to take the coward's way out of the situation and self-destruct.
He wanted to save himself from the humiliation of being chopped up into a thousand pieces and hung off in some memorial site.
He wanted to save his legacy from being tarnished as he did not wish history to judge him as a ' Sorry ' Shaman God who was defeated by a bunch of weaklings.
Hence, as his final act, he willed the blood in his body to explode as he activated the blood shamanic move [ Blood Explosion ]
In his last moments, Angakok felt a pinch of regret over how he had lived his life.
From a young age, he had made the pursuit of power his ultimate goal.
He had never bothered with things like chasing women or starting a family as he felt like those ' Burdens ' would only weigh him down.
In his entire life, the only real connection he ever established was with his disciple Memphidos, a boy that he raised as if he were his own— only to be betrayed by him in the end.
In a way, the reason behind why he wished to take over Max's body was not just to ascend to tier9.
In a way, he wanted to start anew with his youthful body and form real connections with genuine people.
It was only now that Angakok realised why he envied Max so much, as when the Shaman God saw the young brat with so much talent being surrounded by people who cared deeply for him, he felt like the kid was living the life he always dreamed off.
Nonetheless, in his final moments Angakok made peace with the fact that he was being taken down by his second disciple, as he decided that for his own ego, he would believe that Max completed the mission that Memphidos failed at.
Unfortunately for the Shaman God, however, in the end even his attempt to commit suicide failed as the next time he opened his eyes it wasn't in the mysterious afterlife that many civilizations theorised about, but rather in an opponents soul-space that Angakok recognised all too well.
Turned out that the moment his HP fell below 15%, Max panicked that he may die from the internal bleeding or from the remaining explosions at any moment and began preparing to unleash the forbidden [ Soul Devour ] move.
By the time that Angakok decided to self-destruct, his soul had already been sucked out of his damaged body and had been sucked into Max's soul realm as he failed in his attempt to destroy his corpse.
" Why…..why? Just why? " Angakok whined as the purple glow in his eyes faded out, replaced by a dull black one, as for the first time ever, Max got to see Angakok's true eye-colour.
" You won't let me live in peace…. Now you won't even let me die? Why bring me here? What have I ever done to deserve this form of torture?
I helped you master all the elements, I helped you complete the Agni-Astra, I helped you perfect tier5.
I've helped you time and time again in the past, I've taught you some of my best moves and treated you like a second son.
Then why do you treat me like this? " Angakok complained as his weak whining fell on deaf ears.
It was clear to Max by looking into his eyes that Angakok had lost all the shred of courage he once had and was now a broken man.
He had reached his rock bottom and was spouting nonsense to desperately get some closure, however, Max did not plan to give him any-
" Why? Why you ask? " Max scoffed as he could not believe the nerve of the man who had desperately tried to destroy everything he held dear to be saying that he was like a second son to him.
"Why? Because you killed my master Kremeth and tossed his head at my foot… Why because you tried to expose my identity and make my life miserable... Why because you TRIED TO KILL MY WIFE AND UNBORN CHILD!
I'm no son of yours Angakok, I'm your worst nightmare " Max said with hatred evident in his eyes as he showed the broken Angakok absolutely no shred of mercy.
