Falken Twilight stood tall on the mountaintop, his steel-grey eyes locked onto the four-armed, hulking figure of Matumba. With his silver mane waving in the wind, the leader of the Twilight Clan looked more like a god of war, his very presence radiating an aura of invincibility.
The duel had begun. A quiet tension hung in the air as the two gods faced each other, each one measuring the other's strengths and weaknesses.
Meanwhile, the battle raged on among the lower ranks as well, the high vantage point of the mountain stronghold allowed the Twilight Clan to utilise their longer weapons effectively. With their long-reaching javelins, they skewered the approaching mercenaries like kebabs, keeping them at bay, but slowly yet surely the enemies forced them back through sheer numbers alone as the Twilight clan lost ground at a slow but consistent speed.
Once the two god's had a feel for each other's speed and power, Matumba began swinging his upper dual swords towards Falken with raw, wild force with each strike capable of shattering the mountain rock as Falken nimbly dodged the blows, countering with his own graceful yet fierce swordplay.
[Shadow Fang Strike]
Falken shouted, his sword turning into a black beam of pure energy that sped towards Matumba, but Matumba was quick, countering with [Quad Blade Wall], his four swords interlocking to form a shield that absorbed the shadowy assault. The impact sent shockwaves through the battlefield, further intensifying the intensity of the battle.
Falken wouldn't be outdone. With a yell, he leaped high into the air, his sword gathering energy as he prepared his next move.
[Meteor Shower Slash]
The sky above Matumba filled with what seemed like hundreds of flaming sword replicas, all hurtling down towards him. With a grumble, Matumba swirled his four swords in a whirlwind-like motion.
[Typhoon sword Tornado]
The spinning swords created a vortex that sucked in and deflected Falken's fiery onslaught.
The battle only escalated from there. Falken called upon
[Phantom Strike]
His body splitting into multiple shadowy figures, all attacking Matumba at once. Matumba retaliated with [Earthquake Slam] his swords slamming into the ground, causing the earth to tremble violently, sending the shadowy clones and the real Falken flying back.
But Matumba didn't stop there he used the move -
[Tornado Sword Sweep]
Matumba spun on his axis, creating a cyclone around him with his swords, each one aiming at a vital spot on Falken's body who attempted to parry with [Twilight Shield], creating a shimmering barrier in front of him. But Matumba's attack was too powerful, shattering the barrier and sending Falken skidding back.
Pain seared through his body as he pushed himself up, gasping for breath. The realisation dawned on him - Matumba was stronger. Much stronger. A sense of despair threatened to engulf him, but he fought it back. He couldn't afford to lose hope, not now, not when the orb of his clan was at stake.
Matumba casually swung his four swords in the air as a big smile spread on his face. He was clearly not even using 70% of his true power, this was all but fun and games for him as he did not even close down the distance between him and Falken, seemingly waiting to see just what the puny vampire could throw at him next.
Falken knew that there was only one move in his arsenal that could probably harm this beast that he was fighting, a move that utilised divine essence and was a bonafide tier6 attack unique to the twilight clan but the downside was that using it would leave him extremely weak for the next several minutes, which meant that if it failed to kill Matumba, the man would butcher him while he was defenceless.
With a grim determination, Falken decided to launch his ultimate move.
[Twilight's Descent]
His aura became a blinding white light, his power surging like never before. His stamina and mana bar began depleting rapidly, his body shaking with exhaustion.
Just as he was about to unleash his attack, a deafening roar echoed through the skies. From high above, a fiery rain descended upon the battlefield, causing havoc among the enemy ranks. Falken looked up, squinting against the bright flames.
It looked like a man riding atop a magnificent beast that looked like a dragon, but he couldn't be sure as the body of the dragon camouflaged perfectly against the night sky.
Two beams of fire turned the mountain into a blazing fire-pit as instantly tens of thousands of mercenaries were incinerated under the power of the flames.
Both Max and Mira were using [ Dragons Breath ] and forcibly thinning the mercenary numbers that were relentlessly pushing the defending forces up-hill.
Max landed with a resounding thud, drawing the attention of everyone present. With an aura that was unmissable as he pointed towards Matumba and bared his tongue.
Matumba, momentarily distracted, glanced towards the new arrival, giving Falken the window he needed to unleash his attack, hoping that Max's arrival had turned the tide in their favour.
*BOOM*
Falken's strike, which was probably the brightest sword strike that Max had ever witnessed, hit Matumba square on his chest as he was sent flying off the mountain with a loud booming sound.
Max waved his smoky trail goodbye as he watched the orc's HP bar drop from a perfect green to a dirty yellow.
While Max thought Falken did pretty good, the man himself looked like he had seen a ghost as the move was supposed to slice through Matumba clean, but it could only injure him as he survived with nearly 50% of his HP intact.
Slipping onto his bum, Falken sat with a thud as he clutched his head and looked towards the sky.
" I'm going to need a moment " Falken said as he did not explain more.
Max who understood Falken's state perfectly patted him on his knees as he said " Don't worry I'll look after this battlefield and that orc for you "
Falken who did not even have the strength to mouth thankyou just closed his eyes as Max opened a bottle of stamina potion and put it to his lips hoping that he would sip on it and recover faster while he confronted Matumba.
