MMORPG: Rebirth as an Alchemistchapter 8: spells and skills

Ren didn't care about the other players anymore. He needed to distribute his EXP to his ATP. Since he acquired a whopping 12,000 EXP points, his ATP would be way higher than the rest unless they managed to kill a boss this early on.

However, Ren doubted that would happen since the low-level Boss at this point in time had an ATP in the +20 to +40. It would take at least a week of nonstop grinding to reach that amount.

In this early game, the maximum EXP you could get even if you grind the whole day was probably around 1,000 to 2,000 EXP.

That's because the more you level your ATP, the lesser the EXP you'd get. What's more, the monsters in this Newbie Village were low levels and provided only around 50 EXP at best.

But if you did manage to defeat a group of monsters alone, then you might get a whopping 500 EXP in one go.

There was a player who achieved that feat. He used a simple trick that no one even thought about. He bought all his [BONUS +100 Gil] to buy [Health Potions] while others bought gears and equipment.

He repeated that process over and over. He bought nothing but [Health Potions] with his rewards and defeated a group of monsters until he leveled his ATP enough for him to solo group monsters at the beginning of the game without using anymore [Health Potions] while others still had a hard time defeating a single monster.

The only mistake he made was announcing his strategy in the [World Chat] for fame or out of the goodness in his heart. Thus, many players caught up to him. If he didn't, he might be one of the strongest solo players in COVENANT.

Getting ahead of the others was important in the beginning because the stronger your character was early on, the easier for you to grind, achieve first blood and win in PVP later on.

Some even dedicated their lives to the world of COVENANT that they only logged out of the game to eat and go to the toilet, just so they could get ahead of the others.

Ren wasn't worried about that, though. He could always catch up since he knew the best grinding spots, hidden quests, chests, and bugs.

Unfairness? Yes. It was indeed unfair. But the world doesn't care about your feelings at all. Ren knew that hard truth in the past, and he wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

He would cheat his way up, and nothing could stop him.

With Ren's [2000 Gils], it was enough to buy the other spells like water, air, and earth. But without having chosen a subclass, he could only max them to LV.10. He could not evolve them to higher-tier spells if he didn't meet the correct subclass.

There were particular classes where some of your spells/skills would be deleted from your list once you level up. Like when you'd become a Fire Mage, you could no longer perform any other spell except fire. In exchange, you could now have access to higher-level fire spells.

Everyone knew that it was useless to exert effort and money in leveling spells and skills that they couldn't evolve due to class restrictions.

For example, Ren had [Heal LV.1] and [Fire LV.1] in his lists of spells, but he couldn't evolve them after they reached max LV.10 since he wasn't a White or a Red Mage.

Later, when he acquired the Arcanist subclass, he would erase those spells in his list since, by that time, they were already considered weaker spells and wouldn't be much of help during his battles.

It was better to focus on skills and spells that were useful to him.

And that was when the Arcanist [GRIMOIRE] skill became OP. Disregarding race and class, he could perform any type of spell/skill with more than half its power for a certain time. And the only disadvantage was the restrictions. It had to be a Skill/Spell Book, and the book dissolved after being used.

But if Ren levels his [GRIMOIRE] skill then . . . He could perform [GRIMOIRE] at least five or even more in a single day!

And with the [Scholar] passive skill. Ren could convert any skill/spell into a book as well as any food he tasted into recipes. He could then sell them for tons of money!

Ren couldn't contain his grin.

He couldn't wait to get the Scholar and Arcanist Class!

However, it was still weeks into the future. That was why most didn't know that the Arcanist [GRIMOIRE] skill was too OP until that time came. And by that time, it was already too late to recreate your account because you were already heavily invested in your character.

Ren had to hordes all kinds of spell/skill books in preparation, though. So he could spam [GRIMOIRE] by that time. Paired with his skill [Mana Conversion], he could quickly level it up in no time.

In this early game, Ren didn't have to worry about his name showing above his HP and MP Bar or if someone recognized him since everyone was still low in level. But Ren still wanted to hide his face even though it was just his avatar, and he had a piece of perfect equipment for that together with the ideal 'weapon' for him.

When Ren converted his EXP to ATP, he had 120 ATP points to distribute to his stats! That was like weeks of grinding without rest.

At this point, Ren was way ahead of everyone else. So even if the others log in more than him, he wouldn't fall behind.

Without even batting an eyelid, Ren distributed all his 120 ATP points to his LCK and nothing else.

‖ A T T R I B U T E S ‖

HP (Health Points): 50

MP (Mana Points): 75

STR (Strength): 2

DEF (Defence): 7

MDF (Magical Defence): 6

INT (Intelligent): 13

AGL (Agility): 3

LCK (Luck): 125

‖ E N D ‖

It might be a foolish move to increase just his LCK, but Ren needed his LCK to reach this high if he wanted to trigger that hidden grinding spot later successfully.

And since it was still daytime in the game, Ren opted to do some quest while he was here. The rewards from that quest were mediocre at best, but Ren needed a specific item that he could only have from a quest here.
