Later that night, at the bonfire, Ren and Evie sat side by side as they ate grilled meat and drank beer. They were chatting at the start, but they were both too conscious of each other, so the conversation died off, and now they sat in silence while drinking beer.

The others were minding their own business and left them alone. Some already went back to their rooms, while others were going here and there.

Ren threw a fleeting glance on Evie's way, and the latter also seemed to have the same idea, and their gazes met. They immediately averted their eyes while their faces went red.

After a short silence, they burst into laughter.

They were terrible at this. Even high schoolers were better than them.

It felt nice to finally hear Ren's laughter again. Evie and the others thought. It was the right decision to take a vacation and cool off from the noise of the world and the hectic game.

After some time, the couple decided to walk around the beach before deciding to take a short break under the stilts of the lifeguard towers. Unlike normal towers, this one had an enclosed compartment underneath, which was opened on the front. And this small compartment acted like a storage space.

"I thought that you would be a lot more used to it," Evie said, peeking at Ren under her lashes.

"I'm not that kind of person. You're my first-ever girlfriend."

"What about Saya?"

"It didn't count."

"But you were more assertive back then. You even kissed me."

"That didn't count because it was in the game."

Ren moved closer to Evie and held her hand. Their shoulders touched, and they savored the body warmth that spread between them. They were two inexperienced adults who were satisfied with just that.

'Are you really satisfied with just that?' Sumeri's voice rang in Evie's ears, and she slightly pulled away.

"No . . ."

Ren turned in response to her word and found Evie's eyes in front of his. She then moved slightly, and he felt a soft sensation on his lips.

"I wanted to advance our relationship by this much," she said after pulling a little with her hand covering her mouth, but Ren only found her actions cute, and he embraced her before he could think.

Ren then pulled a little after a short moment and was about to kiss Evie again when they heard voices coming their way.

In a feat of panic, Ren pulled Evie inside the compartment, not knowing why he had done so.

In the first place, they were a couple, and it was only normal to be with his girlfriend . . . alone . . . in the dark . . . kissing her.

Nope!

Ren was glad that he pulled her inside rather than the risk of exposing themselves to potential embarrassment and a lifetime topic for gossip.

"Are you sure that they went this way?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

It was Leonel and Isolde's voices.

"Why are we sneaking up on them again?" Isolde asked.

"Isn't it obvious because they're our friends, and it's only right that we spy-I mean, check on them?"

"Is that right?"

"That's odd . . . I could have sworn I saw them in here."

"Maybe they went further ahead?"

Their voices faded into the distance until they only became murmurs followed by hushed silence.

Ren released the breath he held, and he swore that he would make Leonel pay for giving him a scare.

"Evie, are you okay?"

It was only when Ren noticed that his girlfriend was awfully quiet and he finally knew why.

The space was too small for them to be on foot, so they were squeezed together to fit in the little area. Evie's back was against the wall, curved on the soft sand, almost lying. In comparison, Ren was on top of her with two hands on each side of her head to support his weight so he wouldn't crush Evie beneath him.

It wouldn't be awkward if only he wasn't between her legs and while her chin was touching her breasts.

Instantly, the air around them turned a few degrees hotter when Evie covered her lips and moaned in response to Ren's question.

"Y-yeah."

Ren was shock at first, and it didn't take a while for his lust to kick in. He was a healthy adult, and tempted by an alluring woman like Evie, who he happened to love as well, his self-control gladly jump out of the window.

Evie was still wearing her bikini under a thin cover-up, while Ren was topless with a jacket draped over him.

It didn't take long for both of their heart to beat in sync. Their hot breath, fanning each other's flush faces.

Ren's fingers gently ran up and down Evie's spine, coxing shivers out of her. With her cheeks still blushing hotly, she glances back up into his captivating silver eyes.

Ren leaned down, resting his forehead against hers. Evie watched breathlessly as his eyes studied hers with silent intensity. His warm breath ghosted across her face.

Evie shut her eyes in anticipation. She stifled a surprised gasp when his soft lips captured hers, causing her body to flush with heat. The heat seemed to travel through her veins, melting her.

The kiss obliterated every thought in Ren's mind. For the first time in forever, Ren was locked into the present. The worries of the days evaporated like a summer shower onto a hot car.

His usual mode of overthinking from one thing to the next was suspended, and he had no wish for the kiss to end. Drunk in euphoria, his only desire was to touch her, to move his hands under her smooth summer layers and feel her perfect softness.

In a short moment the soft caress had become more firm. He savored her lips, and the quickening of her breath that matched his own made him excited. A kiss like this was a beginning, a promise of much more to come.

"R-Ren . . . ," moaned Evie when Ren finally let go of her lips and captured the skin on her neck. "Y-your leg . . . It's pressing me."

Just as Evie felt a rush of euphoric bliss enveloping her, making her heart sing with pure joy. Ren drew away. She instantly missed the lovely heat curling within her.

He stared into her eyes and leaned in for a shot whisper before gently nipping her ear.

"It's not my leg . . ."
