[BONUS]
Scar, once again, wasn't content with the turn of events. He, along with the other guild leaders, personally headed to the circle of shields and spears, demanding to take part in whatever was happening inside the circle.
"Turn back!" roared the soldiers, raising their weapons.
Scar, Beatrix, Cang Lu, Eric, and the other guild leaders or their representatives all went to the circle, offering all kinds of suggestions that might grant them an audience to the higher-up NPCs. Unfortunately, no one could hear them from the inside, and the soldiers turned a blind eye to their cries.
They had been given an opportunity, yet they wasted it by sending their lackeys to do a leader's job.
'Too bad,' thought Ren, but he wasn't sorry for their outcome. He had a much bigger fish to fry.
"So what is this item you speak of?" asked the Princess to Sebastian.
"It's the [Amulet of Ooze]. We need a Blacksmith, Crafter, or better yet, an Alchemist to mass produce this recipe."
Sebastian presented an old scroll that listed the ingredients and instructions on how to go about the creation of the [Amulet of Ooze].
"The methodology for the creation of [Amulet of Ooze] was from an unpublished research paper by a wizard whose name got lost in the bureaucracy. Some suspected that it was the same wizard who summoned Jibblinplip."
"Why so?" the others asked the centaur.
"Because how many ooze-obsessed wizards can there be out there? Even one is too many," replied Sebastian. It was meant to be a joke, but his face was so grim that no one laughed.
"It's originally meant to enter a gelatinous cube, shielded by a bubble of magic that pushes the cube around. This new version is less silly and more functional. Well, a little less silly."
Sebastian handed out samples of the amulet.
Ren and the others received a necklace with a greenish stone at the center flanked by silver frames. It was simple and could easily pass as an ordinary necklace that could be randomly found in stalls from a bazaar.
[Amulet of Ooze
Once worn, whenever you come into contact with an ooze, the amulet will create a barrier of force that will shield you, giving oozes a disadvantage on melee attacks against you, and prevent you from moving into an Ooze's space and vice versa.]
"You. Test this on Jibblinplip." The Princess tossed an amulet to a soldier nearby.
The soldier heeded her command upon the generals' nod, even if it meant that he would be used as a sacrifice.
They watched as the soldier bypassed the oozes. He even easily cut through Jibblinplip, his sword coming out of its body intact. Although it only caused minuscule damage, the ooze's HP still decreased.
But as retaliation, Jibblinplip engulfed the soldier in one bite. That was the bad news.
But for the good news, they found out that the amulet was effective.
Sebastian shook his head in dismay for the poor life that was lost. "Was that necessary?"
Instead of answering, the Princess took the recipe. "Let me see." She then handed it to the generals after skimming through it and realizing that she didn't know even a single item on the list. "Do you have these materials?"
"Hmm . . . get me the Blacksmiths and Herbalists," the Generals hollered.
In every army, there was at least dozens of Blacksmith, dozens of Herbalist, and sometimes, even dozens of crafters to forge weapons and brew potions. However, that only applied to wars that lasted for months.
When a campaign to exterminate the ooze was started, none of them thought that the mission would last for more than a day. And thus, most only brought their Blacksmiths to forge arrows and blades and maintain their weapons in top condition.
The Herbalists were even few in number and were far from enough to supply potions for the whole army.
The moment the Blacksmith and Herbalist arrived, they looked at the recipe.
"How is it? Can you make hundreds of it within . . ." the Princess took a deep breath and released it one go, ". . . probably an hour or so?
"Possibly," the Herbalist replied. "All materials are simple and readily available nearby. The only problem is Slime Drops. It's the main ingredient."
"Slime Drops?" Princess Lorelai raised a brow. "I got plenty of those after I cut the Colossus's arms."
"We also have that in our storage," the generals said. "They dropped whenever we kill Jibblinplip's minions."
"We have a good amount of that in here. Good thing that we didn't discard them to empty the storage."
"Then we will work on this recipe as soon as we can."
"Mobilize all Crafters and make the creation of the amulets as the top priority!"
Although everyone was busy here and there, they hadn't forgotten about Jibblinplip. They were already setting up barriers fueled with fire and some covered in ice. They also scattered trash and leftover food in every corner, hoping to slow it down for some time while they rested to recover their strength.
"I could probably take it down with ease now," the Princess declared. With Amulet in her hand, nothing could stop her from slicing the Ooze into two.
"I'm afraid that by the time that happens, the Ooze will have already developed resistance to your attacks, wasting your efforts," said Sebastian.
A general agreed. "The centaur is right your high–errr . . . soldier."
"The best course of action right now is to wait for its resistance to disappear," said Sebastian. "Later, you can attack it in full force, both with magical and physical attacks to kill it in one wave before it could develop resistance again."
Every general agreed, making Princess Lorelai pout under her helmet. But she conceded nonetheless.
While everyone was waiting for the first batch of the amulet to be produced, Sebastian's attention went to Evie.
"I see that you inherited Meriyaah's will," he said.
