The ferocious poisonous coyotes stood rooted to their spot as if struck by a lightning bolt out of the blue as they were too shocked to see him run away from them as if they were some kind of plague that
Their mouths were hanging open as they saw his figure becoming blurry in their vision.
"Woo-O-Woo!"
A big one closed its mouth shut, then opened it, releasing a powerful roar. It was enough to snap them back to their senses. Moments later, a hundred coyotes were seen chasing a man through the forest.
After fifteen minutes, the fastest coyotes were at a distance of two minutes from the rest of their pack, but they were also hot on Roy's trail. They were around thirty meters away from him.
"So… they've chosen death."
The second Roy noticed that, he paused, turned around, and dashed towards them at his highest speed.
The beasts never expected that their scared and cowardly prey would suddenly try to hunt them down. They weren't prepared for this.
But life was all about unexpectedness. And they were predators, possessing the ability to respond to danger instinctively.
"Whoosh!"
They shot out a volley of poison spit at him.
Without slowing down, he dodged all of them and reached close to four.
『Ding! Congratulation. You killed two Level 10 poisonous coyotes. You get +100 EXP, +1 Increase in your Mana point bar!』
Two weren't given a chance. They were beheaded in the same second. The other two responded in time. Jumping over his swinging sword, they pounced at him. But what they didn't notice was that he was thrusting his other sword their way. It pierced through the chest of one and branched out of its back, and stabbed into the head of the other. They were both skewed to Piercer; it's the sword Roy "kindly took" from Carl.
『Ding! Congratulation. You killed a Level 10 poisonous coyote. You get +100 EXP!』
『Ding! Congratulation. You killed a Level 10 poisonous coyote. You get a +1 Increase in your Mana point bar!』
There were six. He had killed four. Two were left. And they attacked his back. His sixth sense acted at this moment. He became aware of their claws reaching for him. He immediately whipped his body around, giving Piercer a rough shake. As a result, the two corpses hanging down from it were flung away and dropped on the two coyotes. They were buried beneath the carcass of their companion, their movements suppressed. Roy didn't miss this chance. With a jump, he reached them. Rotating his word, he stabbed them downwards. Their bloodied tips were what they saw before a hole was poked open in both their heads.
A system's notification rang in his mind.
『Ding! You killed two Level 10 poisonous coyotes. You get a +2 increase in your MP Bar!』
Roy ignored it. The tips of his ears twitched. He heard many howls. "They" were closing on him. A minute was all he had. He couldn't wait here any longer than that, or he would be surrounded, then exhausted and killed. Immediately, an idea popped up in his mind.
He leaned down, pressing his hands on the puddle of blood that had formed beneath the corpses, painting them red. It was hot and somewhat toxic, prickling him. He lost 1 HP and felt pained. But he didn't acknowledge it in any way as he was ignorant to it. The blood was applied all over his body. His human scent was masked immediately. He now smelled like expired smelly cheese and spoiled eggs.
A thoughtful look could be seen on Roy's face. 'This much should be enough to fool their senses.' He thought.
He immediately climbed up a towering tree whose canopies were big enough to block out the sun and whose branches were thick enough to house a family of monkeys.
This small world was untouched by humans and nourished by mana.
Thus, the thousands years old trees here were a fantastic sight to behold.
They looked like they came straight out of a fantasy in which giants are the main protagonist, not humans.
He had the Balancing Passive Skill, and hence, it wasn't hard for him to climb it or walk on the plants that were like big clouds but also shaky with each step he took.
Reaching a small boat-like solid branch with big leaves, he stopped and sat under the shadow of the leaves connected to it.
Several breaths later, more than ninety coyotes arrived in the area down below, which looked like a crime scene.
Seeing six more of them dead, they growled.
They were angry at their prey for playing them like fools.
They looked around. He was nowhere to be seen. Roy was hiding in their blind spot.
Then, the air was sniffed by them too. Roy's smell was nowhere to be found. Just where did he go?
The ones leading the pack eyed each other, thinking he must've not escaped far.
Roaring out, they spread out in search of him.
No one noticed a pair of eyes looking down at them from above like they were some kind of joke.
'It worked.' Roy exclaimed wordlessly.
Roy aimed to be a hunter in his past life. He hadn't attended hundreds of hours of classes in vain. These monsters could sniff out a person, just like police dogs. But the scent of blood was in the air, and the same scent was on him as he had applied their blood to his clothes and body. It was simply impossible for them to determine where he was based on his scent.
He was successful in going around them.
But he was, of course, not going to wash his hands off them.
They had taken him as their prey.
It was clear they won't stop looking for him until he died or they got killed.
Actually, the reality was that he was the hunter who could hunt them to the very last one.
He jumped down the trees and chased after them. The one doing the chasing was no longer the beasts. Moments later, he sneaked his way to the backline of their pack, which contained the weakest of them. His murderous eyes were set on them, but not a single soul noticed!
A very, very horrifying and sickening one-sided blood bath was going to begin!
