Arlo chuckled heartily.
"Why would I not comply with the words of my nephew, the true holder of the recipe?"
Immediately after these words were said, the fire in Arlo's hand jumped out and devoured the last herb.
Enveloped by dark-red fire, it turned to cinders.
Exactly what Vizards said happened.
Floating in the air were ashes with dots of blue twinkling in them.
Seeing them, Vizards furrowed his brows.
If only that boy had heeded his advice, the herb wouldn't have gone to waste.
It was at this moment that he heard a sentence that eliminated the possibility of him disliking Roy.
"Elder, I knew that it can only secrete fluids if roasted by a fourth-level fire, but what I needed was its ashes that had merged with the magic extracts. I used that level of flame to burn it so that I would get the result I desired." With these words, Roy earned his acknowledgment.
"Ah... I see. I've never seen anyone intentionally mix magic extracts of a magic herb with its ashes. You're the first to do that." Vizards smiled at Rot like a kind elder.
Roy's lips curled back into a smile, and he said, "I'm just following what's mentioned in this."
In his hand was a piece of paper full of wisdom.
He rubbed it between his fingers, and the man titled as elder mage couldn't help but keep his eyes on it.
"What do you want me to do with it?" Arlo asked in an impatient voice. Sweat was oozing out of Arlo. It was clear that because of doing all that, he was somewhat exhausted.
Roy replied, "Mix it with the golden liquid in the first flask, then add the magic extracts in the other flasks into the first one."
Arlo did exactly as Roy said.
The ashes went into the first flask, flaking down on the golden liquid, muddying it. Then, the remaining flasks were lifted by Arlo's Aura and were brought close to the first flask under his supervision. Then, he poured the content inside them into the first flask. The mixture of different magic extracts looked like a censored rainbow-colored puke.
"What should I do now?" Arlo wiped the sweat off his forehead, exhaling a breath of relief.
He let go too suddenly, and the flask dropped to the ground, shattering.
One could see creases appear on Elder Mage's darkened face.
Seeing him look so menacing, Amelia swallowed nervously.
Arlo felt someone glaring dagger at his back and cranked his neck to his old friend.
"Sorry," he apologized.
The elder mage's eyes twitched, and he breathed out
exasperatedly. "When will you learn not to do that? This is the 77th time you broke flasks at the same step. It makes me wonder if you do it intentionally."
Under his piercing gaze, Arlo chuckled nervously. Some habits were hard to let go of, and breaking flasks after they were not needed was a ceremony too fun not to do.
The embarrassment caused by the thick-skinned Arlo was felt by Roy, and he apologetically looked at Vizards.
Vizards waved his hand as if saying not a big deal.
He took a deep breath and exhaled it. "Uncle, use the first-level fire to heat it for 20 minutes, then wait half an hour for it to cool down, and we'll have our elixir created."
"Alright, I'm on it."
An instant after saying that, using the fire creation rune stone, Arlo created a gentle fire below the flask, heating the content inside it.
Forty minutes later, the various magic extracts were indistinguishable from each other.
Only gooey stuff of a reddish-black color was left. Its scent spread throughout the room. It was bad enough to make their noses crinkle.
"Just what have you made me create? Why does it smell so bad?" Arlo pinched his nose, unwilling to smell the shit in the air.
On the other hand, with a pondering and interesting look, Vizards was looking at the elixir. "I'm curious about it too. If you tell me, I will reward you handsomely."
Roy sniffed the fumes and felt something wriggling in his stomach.
It was such a good sign that it put a smile on his face.
"It is called the Parasite Killer. Like its name, it can kill all sorts of parasites, including the ones the Achlys use to control the members of their branch families. Once you drink it, it changes the habitat of your body into one where any and all parasites can't survive. If they stubbornly latch on to their host even then, they would die out in mere moments."
Hearing his words, the eyes of Arlo and Vizards widened to the size of saucers.
Seeing their reaction, the clueless maid thought her master had created something amazing.
"It's that powerful?!" Arlo was finding it hard to believe that this elixir could annihilate all Parasites. It was just too much for this man to believe.
"Won't we find it after I drink it?" Roy picked up the flask, bringing it close to his lips. It was hot, but he could still hold it without a problem.
Vizards looked at Roy in bewilderment. "Just why would you take it?"
Roy raised his head.
Just this slight change of posture made him appear like a lone wanderer that has faced many ordeals in the eyes of the onlookers.
"Because someone did me dirty and planted a parasite in my body. It had taken roots in me and changed my Constitution adversely. This fat that you see and the fact that I feel like knives stabbing into me just from inducing mana into my flesh is caused by it."
"You've been through a lot." Vizards sympathized with him. Just who would be so cruel to an orphan?!
Tears welled up in Amelia's eyes, and her chest felt stuffy. It was hard for her to breathe properly after finding out that her master had been harmed under her eyes.
Arlo's brows raised, and his comic-relief expression was replaced by an ever-darkening face, his eyes blazing in anger. "W-what? Who harmed you so insidiously?!"
