GhostWalker's head touched the ground. If one were to look closely at it, they would see that his eyes were full of disbelief and unwillingness. Noticing that, Roy showed a smile. Then… his attention was attracted by the system's notifications ringing in his ears.
『Ding! Congratulation. You've Killed a Fallen Priest of Chaos. You get 200 EXP. You'll be handsomely rewarded when you return to Far West.』
『Ding! Congratulation. The system has extracted 2000 units of Chaotic energy from his body, purified it, and converted it into EXP. You get an additional 1000 EXP!』
This pleasantly surprised Roy.
He had never expected to earn so many experience points from taking down a single person!
Roy smiled with his eyes. 'Defeating him was hard, but the rewards I got were well worth my efforts.'
Then, his eyes narrowed, and a thoughtful look was revealed on his face.
'EXP must be some sort of energy naturally present in a living being's body. But the system most likely can't extract it for me until they die at my hands. And seeing how it is possible for the system to convert chaotic energy into EXP, they must be similar and might have the same or conflicting origin. But EXP is better since it has increased my strength without doing me harm, while chaotic energy corrupts people, changing their diet and mentality. They become cannibals and demonic when they accept it.'
Roy didn't know how he got the system, but at least, using his brain, he found out that he would make good use of its EXP Extraction function by going against Chaos and its followers.
He was already planning to ruin all their plans.
So he was bound to become their most wanted enemy!
Seeing the scheming look on his face, Julian asked, "What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing much." Roy brushed him off and got to looting GhostWalker.
『You've obtained ×1 Power-storing soul shard. It's a high-level soul shard. You can store one attack in it. It can be released at command. It has an infinite lifespan. It can be refilled unlimitedly.』
『You've obtained ×1 Ethereal Bracelet. It has a sub-space of 200 yards.』
『You've obtained the runic item, Ghost Chaser. Aura can be infused with it in order to harden it and make it one to 15 times heavier.』
『You've obtained the runic item, Ghastly Armor. It has a passive effect. It can reduce incoming physical damage by 15%.』
『You've obtained two runic stones of teleportation. It can bring you wherever you want. It's a consumables item. Only one person can use it at a time. And it will disintegrate once used thrice.』
"God, did you just unearth a treasure box? Just how many things does he have on his body?!!" Julian said.
Roy exclaimed, "This guy is filthy rich!"
Roy wore the armor and the bracelet and put the other four items into his subspace. He had to exit the area to do so.
Swift Death was lying on her stomach in the hall.
Her eyes were closed, but her breathing pattern was mystical.
She was meditating in that position to stop the blood coming out from her wounded back.
When Roy caught sight of her actual condition, he felt worried for her sake, and his hardened stance towards her also softened.
"You're injured. How bad is it? Can you still move?" He asked with concern.
"They're just skin wounds. Moving isn't a problem. And I should be able to stop the bleeding in five minutes. Just give me that time, and I'll be back on my feet." Delilah replied, her voice shaky.
Her back was ruined. For a woman, her beauty was everything. But for Swift Death, it was only a tool she could use to seduce men who think with their lower heads easily. And if they are seduced by her, it becomes easier for her to assassinate them.
She didn't care about her back getting disfigured.
But… Roy did.
"I'll pay for your treatment when we return to the county," Roy promised.
Delilah threw a pleasant smile at him.
"How about thanking me first, my dear lord?" She demanded.
She looked like she really wanted to hear that coming out of his mouth.
"Thank you for coming to my aid." Roy lowered his head, bringing his lips close to her ears. "I'm grateful to you for all the help you've provided me so far, my fox-faced gorgeous maid."
He breathed into her ears.
This was enough to break her fake smile.
But... seeing his handsome face so close to herself, her heart started beating like a drum.
His princely looks were exactly her type. It wasn't wrong to say that she felt pleased to look at him.
But that was as far as her feelings went about him.
Her heartbeat returned to normal, and she looked away from him, puckering her lips and squinting her eyes.
'I am a face-con. But that's my secret. His looks are striking. He might be among the top ten most handsome of the empire. I might be charmed by him, but I should never think of lusting after him. I don't want a change in our partnership, after all.' Swift Death secretly promised to herself that although she admired him for his bravery and looks, she would never fall for him!
Roy was totally unaware of the things going on in her mind.
There were only two teleportation runic stones. They were similar to Return Stones that Roy had seen in games before. Only two could return to the County, but there were five of them.
Roy, Julian, and Delilah decided to stay back and sent Michael and Tania home.
"Just think of returning to the County when breaking it, and you'll be back home," Roy explained and handed them over to the pair of mother and son.
Tania looked at him gratefully but then worriedly asked, "But what about you guys?"
"We'll find another way out." Julian showed her a carefree smile to ease her worry.
Roy showed her a thumbs up, "You've seen for yourself that we're strong enough to survive a Ghost King. No matter what obstacles we encounter ahead, we'll smash them all the same and find our way back home, I promise. So don't feel worried about us."
"May the Great Sun keep you away from harm." She prayed for their safety.
"My family must be worried sick for me. Please Inform them that we are safe and we will be back soon." Roy waved her goodbye.
Tania replied, "I will."
"Whoosh!" Michael and Tania disappeared from the hall.
They were teleported back to the County, their home.
