I Hate Systemschapter 749: baby steps

"Haah," Compass Carburettor let out a deep breath as he controlled his limbs, taking one step after another within the room.

He felt a mild headache from the strenuous exercise as he was manually controlling every single muscle, nerve, and bone forming his legs to walk. Normally in a human body, such actions would be taken care of by muscle memory.

But after his limbs had been severed, Compass Carburettor had created fake limbs using Mental Fragments, reforming them to look the same as the original. It was easier said than done to control them though, as his Mental Strength was consumed rapidly just to walk a couple of metres.

Currently, the trio of Compass Carburettor, Duketace, and Kowla had taken residence in the inn of a secluded town, one that was happy to provide them shelter at discounted rates due to the sheer lack of tourists to the location.

And here, Compass Carburettor began to train on rehabilitating himself to the new limbs. At first, his Mental Strength was wholly expended just to traverse a distance of ten metres.

But following that, he borrowed the Senses Scroll from Kowla and began to train a sense of touch to the artificial limbs. That allowed him easier control over the limbs, raising the distance traversed from ten metres to more than twenty within the span of a day.

Moreover, it was continuing to increase every time he trained.

Currently in his Dreamland was the Ascender Scroll that he had created personally. Its effect allowed him to regain his Mental Strength within a day. Though of course, he had to consume enough food accordingly.

He then began to work on his own version of the Senses Scroll, for he intended to convert his entire fleshly body into a Mental Fragment construct. So for that, the Senses Scroll should allow him to expand on his senses to an extent beyond what a human was usually capable of.

As for the Mental Fragments required to create the Senses Scroll, he had more than enough from his stay at the island. He had consumed the Mental Fragments from more than a million fishes.

Duketace worked on taking care of all his needs while Kowla mostly trained her strength, intending to become an Ascender eventually. And with the mini-Forbidden Tale in her Dreamland influencing her Mental Fragments more and more, her strength continued to soar unabated.

A week spanned past in such a fashion before which Compass Carburettor was able to walk and perform basic tasks on his own. That was enough for him, for the time being as he summoned the father and daughter duo.

Staring at Duketace, he said, "Have you discovered traces of your wife?"

"Yes, my Lord." Duketace nodded respectfully, saying after a moment of consideration, "I had never expected for her to be so daring to establish her own force in the infamous archipelago that had bankrupted countless Clans."

"And surprisingly, it seems she's faring pretty well there."

'That was expected.' Compass Carburettor nodded, relieved at the fact that the family of four he planned to make us of hadn't been affected. Their fate was still untampered.

Rather, his actions only served to improve their fate.

Staring at the sky, Compass Carburettor observed that whether it was his fate or luck, both were abysmal. But it didn't matter in the long run, for he had experience in dealing with situations even without the aid of luck, for he had done that in the Gaider Realm in the past.

Using the remainder of money in their possession, Duketace bought some necessities before taking flight. Compass Carburettor was seated comfortably, transforming his legs into a chair that was firmly rooted into the eagle's back.

He also extended the length of the seat, allowing both Duketace and Kowla to be seated comfortably.

At first, Duketace was uncomfortable, staring at Compass Carburettor's figure that peeked out of the chair, as if his lower half was buried in it.

But upon seeing Kowla not pay it any heed, he forced himself to accustom to the changes.

Honestly, this was one of the reasons Compass Carburettor intended to morph his fleshly body into a Mental Fragment counterpart.

It allowed him to freely transform his body into any form he saw fit. Basically, as long as he had the required Mental Fragments, Compass Carburettor could even transform into a bonafide rock and remain as such for as long as he needed.

And unlike a fleshly body, he wouldn't need to eat anything to survive. his true body's characteristic was Anthozoa, meaning he gained power from the sun.

So, once he gains a Mental Fragment body, he truly would become versatile. That would get rid of one of the major weaknesses he gained after he split up into four parts.

Moreover, what was advantageous was the fact that Mental Fragments and Mental Energy were correlated. Meaning, in the future, he would be able to condense Mental Energy into Mental Fragments to build up his body, gaining multiple powers accordingly as such without losing them whenever he birthed another Main Character.

After all, every time he gained something beneficial, he also lost a significant sum. When he became the Main Character, even though he got rid of the problems inherent in System Slayers, it also made him unable to use Core Skills or create more Personal Fragments.

In the same way, once he awakened his Core Skill of Lore, he lost the majority of his powers to Domino Plottopia, Gahrat, and Hazen. It was a major nerf to the versatility of his strength.

As he was aware that whenever he were to create a new Main Character, he would lose a part of himself, he intended to create a mode of power system that was relevant to his growth as the Main Character and allowed him to develop based on his gains.

Though this world's power system was damn weak, but in his hands, it was many times more valuable. It was his goal, other than to reach the peak of this world.

Compass Carburettor smiled as he stared at the landscape span past below him as the eagle continued to fly nonstop. Once Duketace was tired, Kowla subbed in for him as after four days of nonstop travel, they arrived at the sprawling archipelago, making a beeline to the mansion where Sturrala resided in now.
