Whack!
A whip lashed out at Gilthru, forming a gash on his face as he fell to the ground, grunting in pain.
"You had one job and you failed at that?" An angry voice resounded as Daka Felera, his master lashed out with the whip again and again until Gilthru began bleeding all over.
"Bring it here!" She extended her hand as a human slave wearing a robe appeared, bringing over a jug filled to the brim with a healing potion.
Daka Felera grabbed the jug and splashed the contents over Gilthru, watching his injuries heal as she glared at him, "You understand what will happen next, right?"
"Yes, your majesty. I'm willing to accept my punishment." Gilthru prostrated on the ground, appearing sullen.
"You'll suffer a hundred lashes," Daka Felera said, watching him nod as she asked next, "Now, why did you fail? Your task was to kill just one child. Is she terrifying?"
"She is terrifying indeed," Gilthru recalled the metal horse, nodding, "But, she's only a Master Mage. I had the confidence in subduing her. But, the problem was her bodyguard."
"Her bodyguard?" Daka Felera frowned in response, noticing that Gilthru had turned silent in response, not saying anything further. She peered into his thoughts, feeling a headache as too many thoughts flowed through his mind, expressing that even as he tried to conceal himself, Gilthru was in a state of fluster, also feeling insulted at the defeat.
"All of you, leave." She waved her hand, watching everyone exit the throne room as only she and Gilthru were there now. She then stared at him to nod, "Continue."
"That bodyguard is the same age as me but is already a Grandmaster. And, even though he concealed himself, the magic he used wasn't a Metal Mage's power…" Gilthru said solemnly, "But that of an Elementalist. That explains why his metal constructs seemed like they had a mind of their own."
"An Elementalist…" Daka Felera turned serious, 'Is he a Demon that is moving undercover as a Human there? But, if that's the case, why is he protecting Zaira? She's too dangerous to be left alive.'
"Did you feel as if he's protecting Zaira only to get close to her or to tame her?" She asked next, understanding that an Elementalist talented enough to become a Grandmaster at the age of fifteen might also be a Tamer.
That might be why he's getting close to Zaira, so that he could tame her once she lets down her guard.
"No, I didn't sense anything of the sort. He shouldn't be a Tamer as…" Just as Gilthru began to speak, his eyes widened in shock as he understood what was up, "We trapped their carriage in a formation. But, that boy uttered a word when our formation became weak enough for the carriage to escape from it…"
Bang!
Daka Felera got up with a start, her fluster shattering the throne as her expression was incredulous, muttering solemnly, "Principal Arbiter…"
"Principal Arbiter is a rare Sub-Profession. Those with it cannot have another profession. Then, how can he be an Elementalist despite that?" She muttered in confusion.
In any race, there existed people with more than one Main Profession. Gilthru was an example among the Humans, having the professions of both a Warrior and a Mage.
Among the Demons, Daka Felera was another example, wielding the Professions of Tamer and Elementalist.
But, someone with a Sub-Profession could only wield that one profession, there were no exceptions. After all, Sub-Professions were rare, but they were specialised to the peak.
Among the Demons, there were the Sub-Professions of Principle Arbiter and Conjurer, both were so rare that there was at most one per ten million. And their Saint, the Saint of Calamity was a Conjurer.
And throughout history, a Conjurer only wielded that profession. The case was the same for a Principal Arbiter too.
Among humans, there were the Sub-Professions of Porter, Cartographer, and Alchemist. The case was the same here too. This was why there were no Cartographers at higher Realms of power, for they were a complete auxiliary profession without any combat strength.
So, the more valuable they became, the quicker they were assassinated by the enemy powers.
It was a definite fact that those possessing a Sub-Profession only had the powers of that profession alone. But, what she heard here seemed absurd.
There now existed a Demon that was an Elementalist but shockingly, he also wielded the power of a Principal Arbiter, a Sub-Profession?
'It's impossible for him to be a commoner.' Daka Felera frowned, feeling that it was impossible. After all, even among the nobles, wielding two professions was incredibly rare. Only royalty like her was capable of…
Her expression morphed as Daka Felera rushed out of the throne room, "I need to ask my dad about this. Gilthru, you can return to your home once you accept the punishment. I'll summon you when I need you again."
"Yes, your majesty." Gilthru nodded in response, sighing as he observed the empty throne room.
Daka Felera's father was none other than the Saint of Calamity, one typically addressed as the Demon God by those from the other races. After all, he was the sole Saint of the world, with none his match.
Gilthru made his way to the basement of the palace, staring at the rough-looking minotaur there that was shocked to see his arrival.
"You made a mistake, Gilthru?" The Minotaur stopped whipping the prisoners, staring at him in shock.
"I failed in ambushing Zaira." Gilthru sighed as he entered a cell and began to remove his clothes, "I've been ordered to face a hundred lashes."
"Damn…" The Minotaur flinched for a moment, for among Daka Felera's tamed beasts, he had the highest authority, having been the sole cause that resulted in a Kingdom's collapse, a nightmare on the battlefield.
"I'm sorry if this hurts you…" The Minotaur sighed before lashing out with a whip, flinching in fear every time Gilthru grunted in pain.
"Thank you," Gilthru spoke, tired as he was done enduring a hundred lashes, taking out a potion the Minotaur had given him as he applied it to his wounds, watching them heal. He then wore his shirt and weakly walked out of the basement, leaving the palace as he hailed a carriage and headed towards a nearby village.
It was where all the human captives were held, and treated horribly. The moment he set foot in the village, his confidence plummeted.
