"Can't you just publicise information regarding Compass Carburettor to the Astral Network? One of the Systems you make can do the job." Balveta said in anger upon seeing that Slayer had stopped chasing after the Main Character. "Didn't you just say to kill him before he grows any stronger?"
"Why are you going back on your words?"
"I was…just emotional for a moment back then." Slayer said calmly, "You see, even I cannot control myself after I've been taken advantage of, especially by the Main Character."
"But you see, this is precisely the reason why I'm not chasing after him." Slayer sighed as he gazed at Balveta, "Remember your past. When did the Main Character grow the most?"
"That's…" Balveta turned silent, "When they were pressured the most and when things became chaotic, their growth was the fastest."
"Yes, chaos is where the Main Characters naturally grow stronger the fastest." Slayer nodded, "And if I were to target him with all my power, I'll precisely be fuelling his growth at a terrifying pace."
"He might even become as powerful as me."
"Then, are you suggesting we just…let him go?" Balveta stared incredulously.
"Yes." Slayer nodded, "Might as well. It's better than focusing all our attention on him. That isn't our priority now."
"You mean the Plague Doctor profession…" Balveta frowned, "You're still in the mood for that?"
"That will only end up strengthening this world further. It won't strengthen you in any way whatsoever. All you'll gain is another profession to train in. But, you already have a Core Skill with the same powers as the Plague Doctor profession anyway, so why spend so much effort in this?" Balveta lost control of herself, almost raging at the end.
"Balveta, you're wrong about one thing." The Elf named Keel interjected, stating as countless runes revolved around him, "The stronger this world becomes, the greater our safety. This world's foundation has already reached a level where even Grade 3 Systems are nervous about antagonising. And if it grows even more, we'll be safe for as long as we remain here."
"I hate being trapped in one world." Balveta snorted.
"But this world is massive." Slayer said, "This world is actually bigger than the Immortal Worlds out there. And, it'll continue to grow in the future too. Irrespective of how strong you become, you'll need to live in a world anyway."
"So, you're planning to hole up in this world for the rest of your infinite life?" Balveta glared at Slayer and Keel.
"Before you take over other worlds, you first need to erect an impregnable base, a home where you can fall back on should things get treacherous." A Minotaur, one of the peak System Slayers spoke, having been silent from the start, only now joining in the argument.
"What the heck do you understand, Warl?" Balveta snorted, "You're not smart to consider such things."
"I may not be as smart as the rest of you, but I'm strong." Warl said, staring at Slayer, "Even Slayer can only win against me if he activates his Grade 2 Core Skill. And, even I can understand Slayer's objective."
"If he simply wished to grow strong, he could have stolen our Personal Fragments long ago. He has the ability to do so. Aren't I right?" Warl stared at Slayer.
"You're indeed right." Slayer nodded, surprising Balveta as he said, "I do have the means to steal the power of all you five."
"But you see…" Slayer closed his eyes, "I've always had conflicting thoughts. But most of all…"
"I've always felt envious and inferior towards Arnark." Slayer stated honestly, "And, things back in the day were different from what you expect."
"You've never talked about it, Slayer." Keel said, his eyes widening in surprise, "What…just happened back then when there was just you and Arnark among System Slayers?"
"How exactly was the Main Character System created?" He pressed forth, "Whether it was the System World or the Main Character System, weren't both birthed from our world?"
"Indeed, you're right." Slayer nodded, stating truthfully, "They were birthed in our world. And I…"
He said after pausing for a little, "I witnessed the birth of both."
…
"Kyaaa!"
"Nooo!"
"Save me! Please spare me!"
"My child, at least spare my child. I beg of you!"
Screams resounded from a village as blood covered the grounds while corpses were strewn across. All the men had been killed while the women had been captured.
Among the thirty captured women, one continued to holler, ignoring her bleeding left arm. She stared at a fear-stricken child that had been held captive by a group of Demons riding ferocious Magic Beasts.
"The Human race is pretty weak. There was just one old Master Mage in this entire village." A Demon riding a lizard-like Magic Beast stated in disdain, gazing at the helpless humans before him.
"Inspect the children. I need someone with talent to reach the Grandmaster Stage." A cold voice resounded from behind him as the Demon turned respectful immediately.
"Please give me a moment, your highness." Saying so, the Demon jumped down from the Magic Beast's head, landing before the captive human children as he grinned, crouching forth as he placed his hand on the head of the boy closest to him.
Runes revolved around his hand as they turned into a circle, sending a stream of mana through the child's head, causing him to smack his lips in distaste, "Pah! He doesn't even understand anything about his profession. Just a trash."
He then threw the child away, aiming at a Magic Beast, "Catch! Here's your dinner."
Chomp!
The Magic Beast devoured the child, grinning as blood oozed out of its teeth. The children were panic-stricken while the captive women mourned in response.
The Demon simply seemed to revel in the screams as he continued to inspect the children, cursing in response as none were up to the mark. He then arrived before the last of the children, scowling as he didn't wish to let down her majesty, hoping for at least someone decent to appear.
He stared at the child, a snot-nosed eight-year-old brat whose body was riddled with injuries, a result of protecting his mother, as the Demon learned about it, 'He protected his mother with his body? Interesting.'
Saying so, he placed his hand over the child's head, causing the runes to light up as suddenly, his face paled, "This child is an Expert Warrior…."
He couldn't finish his statement as the child's hand pierced through his throat, following which a wind blade ended up severing the Demon's head.
