I Hate Systemschapter 295: mysterious spatial entity

Body Layer—Mental Energy!

Other than making him look cool, this version also had impressive uses. He had only found out in the past few days after managing to comprehend the entirety of his information surge.

Once he landed at a certain location, Grisha popped out from the ground as she used Directional Misalignment on him, wishing to control his movements.

The ability was effective, but Compass Carburettor walked normally, his actions unaffected by it. Or rather, all he noticed was a small increase in his Mental Energy expenditure. This was the true use of the Body Layer when activated with Mental Energy.

It allowed him to defend against any ability that was actuated using Mental Energy. It was pretty much useless against normal abilities though. But still, the fact that it was effective against Mental Energy actuated abilities was a testament to its use, especially since his enemies were Systems.

So, if a strong System ability targeted him, as long as he was enveloped by Body Layer using Mental Energy, he would be unaffected. Though, if the ability is stronger than the rate of his Mental Energy expenditure, the attack would still go through.

This gave him a certain level of confidence to go against Systems now as he received a bunch of items from Grisha, condensing his pair of wings as he took flight after that, leaving her behind.

"Be safe," Grisha said, watching him leave. There was a reason she no longer accompanied him. It was because the Elf was targeting him.

So, if she went along with him, she would be implicated. But instead, if she moved separately, she would be able to get a lot of work done, just like now where she handed over a bunch of External Items to him.

The fortress next to Feora City was almost full now, and he was receiving a consistent stream of Mental Energy from there. So, Compass Carburettor planned to do the same in other locations too and erect as many fortresses as possible and increase his Mental Energy accumulation.

There was no harm in having more Mental Energy, especially since he didn't have any foreseeable limit in its storage. The Dimensional Space didn't display any sense of being 'filled up' by Mental Energy yet, so he wasn't concerned.

Taking out the Elf Compass, he noted the Elf's position, suddenly noticing the compass needle spin erratically. Without any hesitation, he activated Mecha, turned into a fighter plane and blasted off into the air, attaining supersonic speeds.

A couple of seconds later, the Elf appeared in his initial spot, noticing that he had already gone far away by now, clicking its tongue, "He was lucky this time."

Snorting in response, a magic circle appeared behind the Elf as its figure vanished.

Compass Carburettor continued to gaze at the Elf Compass, watching the spinning needles stop as they pointed in a certain direction, slowly moving. "100 kilometres…110 kilometres…this bastard is capable of teleporting a hundred kilometres easily."

He continued to fly in this manner, increasing their distance. By relying upon the Elf Compass, he wished to probe the Elf's abilities and its foundation. That was how he would be able to handle it in the future.

And now that he understood how brilliantly it worked, he began to laugh, "Just you wait…"

He soon deactivated Mecha, unwilling to waste much Mental Energy, thinking, "If I had an ability similar to Rhizen's third ability, it'll be less energy-draining to use Mecha and turn into a fighter jet."

'Let's hope I come across something suitable among a System Host's possession.' Condensing his pair of wings, he began to fly around, blanketed by the Mental Energy Body Cloak.

As it was now nighttime, he used the chance to fly freely, soon arriving at a city. This city was adversely affected by the grass as the number of Grassmen here were too many.

The ants, on the other hand, seemed to have lost their initiative here as the city was being covered by grass throughout, the buildings even.

By relying upon Directional Misalignment, Compass Carburettor determined the position of the closest humanoid, landing at the terrace of an apartment building.

He slowly descended the floor, knocking on the nearby door, "Open up, rescue awaits!"

There was no response though, but Compass Carburettor was aware of the reason. The walls of the corridor were stained with blood. And it seemed it wasn't just mutated beast blood. A certain level of human atrocity had transpired at the place, and the only survivor was the person within this room.

As he waited at the entrance to the house, there was no response. But suddenly, the door was riddled with countless bullet holes as the person within had attacked.

Compass Carburettor was affected, having already sensed malice in the Mental Energy stream from the other party in the over dozen seconds he had been standing behind the door, waiting to perform a sneak attack.

So, he created a layer of Dust Wave around himself that destroyed the bullets rapidly, preventing them from reaching him. To the eyes of others, it would seem like the bullets had disappeared mid-air suddenly.

A second later, a youth in his early twenties kicked open the door, sending it flying his way as he swerved around it, holding a sword that was surrounded by the burst element.

Suddenly, it moved at terrifying speeds, aiming for Compass Carburettor's neck as the youth glared at him.

But suddenly, his glare turned into shock, for his sword suddenly disintegrated, causing smoke. Most of it had vanished when it closed in on his foe.

"What the heck…?" He was shocked, for Compass Carburettor was currently wearing the Mental Energy Body Layer. So, he didn't seem like a human but a mysterious space entity.

"Interesting…" Upon hearing an ethereal voice resound from the other party, the youth didn't wish to stay there any longer, swallowing a couple of pearls as he condensed a gun and shot bullets made of burst element at him.

Though, all the bullets simply vanished when they neared the mysterious spatial entity.

He only intended for his attacks to serve as a distraction, turning around to run away from the place. But, he had only taken a couple of steps when he realised…he was actually walking towards the mysterious spatial entity instead.

'Dammit, what the heck is happening?' He was flabbergasted, unable to escape any longer.
