I Hate Systemschapter 253: death is just a checkpoint

[Destiny Luck (Level 92): Stop bickering. The both of you, retreat for now. We'll come up with another plan to kill that System Slayer]

The moment one of the Systems with authority messaged, both the Power Punch System and Conspiracy Slayer System stopped fighting.

[Conspiracy Slayer (Level 8): Boss, I have a small problem. My Host has lost all trust in me. I won't be able to influence his actions through Quests for the time being. If I try anything else, he'll become useless as a Host]

[Destiny Luck (Level 92): Rewrite his memory. Even though it'll affect the Mental Energy you'll receive, that is the only option now. Otherwise, your Host would hinder our plans.]

[Conspiracy Slayer (Level 8): Yes, Boss. I'll get it done immediately]

The Conspiracy Slayer System grumbled as it surfed through the Astral Network, expending some Mental Energy to buy a one-off Skill to alter memory. It then activated it, specifying the duration in which the effect should take place, dictating from the moment before its Host met Compass Carburettor.

'That should solve all issues.' Thinking as such, it watched the ability take effect while its Host's eyes turned blank for a moment before regaining clarity.

He felt odd for a moment but didn't dwell on it for long. After all, a punch slammed into him, sending him flying away, startling him. "W-What the heck happened?"

After all, in his memory, he had just jumped into the balcony to Compass Carburettor's house when this punch slammed into him.

The change in him was immediately noticed by Compass Carburettor and the burly man.

'So, his memory was indeed erased.' Compass Carburettor thought as his smile widened, 'That makes things easier. Thank you, Conspiracy Slayer System.'

"Uncle, shall I take action?" The cobra asked through telepathy, sitting comfortably within his space.

"Yes, right on time." Compass Carburettor nodded, expressing caution, "But, the moment I signal you, return. There's danger involved."

"Okay!" Saying so, the cobra's figure flashed, vanishing from his space as it appeared within the burly man's space. As Compass Carburettor was within two metres from him, this transfer was possible.

The moment it appeared within the space, the cobra pounced upon the mongoose that had appeared within.

After all, Compass Carburettor had slammed his attack onto the burly man's pair of boots using his Armament, damaging it, preventing the burly man from using the flashing ability properly.

So, he retracted it, planning to condense it once again. This way, he'll be able to use it properly. But, as Compass Carburettor and the cobra were communicating, the moment he watched the burly man's boots disappear, he alerted it, causing the cobra to swipe at the mongoose the moment it appeared within the space.

It hadn't been expecting an ambush, not within this space that was supposed to be the safest place for it.

The cobra's teeth plunged into its neck as the mongoose struggled to escape. The poison quickly circulated within it while the cobra coiled around its body.

The moment this happened, even though the burly man was willing for it to appear as a pair of boots, nothing happened. His boots failed to form, causing him to assume the reason was due to the damage.

But in reality, the cobra had poisoned it, using its ability to prevent it from being summoned out. Its mouth then opened like a python as it swallowed the mongoose, returning to Compass Carburettor's space, resting in exhaustion.

"Good work!" Compass Carburettor laughed as he continued to attack the burly man, now having gained the advantage of mobility, punching the other party in the direction of the teenager.

His figure then flashed before the teenager, sporting an expression of concern, "Dude, are you okay? Hurry! Get up!"

The teenager just managed to gather his bearings when the burly man shouted in anger, punching him since he was the closest.

But, Compass Carburettor kicked the other party, coughing out another mouthful of blood as he stood between the burly man and the teenager, shouting at him, "What the heck happened to you? Snap out of it!"

"W-What…why the heck are you helping me?" The teenager was shocked, receiving help from the very person he deemed an enemy.

"Hahaha! It seems my punch knocked his brain hard. He's suffering from amnesia now!" The burly man grinned and targeted the teenager, taking advantage of the other party's momentary helplessness.

But suddenly, he stomped the ground with enough force to create a massive crater, swerving to his left as his fist slammed into Compass Carburettor, "But first, you're an annoyance. Disappear!"

"Shit!" Alarmed at the power contained within his punch, Compass Carburettor summoned the entirety of his strength, shielding himself with his hands and legs, watching the power behind the attack shatter all his bones, sending him flying away like a rocket.

He crashed into a nearby house, breaking through the walls, exiting it in the same manner before slamming into another house, being buried by the rubble from the shattered wall.

"He's dead." Upon sensing the vital signs of his target disappear, the burly man smirked, turning his gaze to focus on the teenager, "You're next."

"Let's see you try," The teenager's face convulsed as he got up with a start, summoning a knife, slashing countless times within a couple of seconds, causing blood to spurt out of the burly man in many locations.

In response, the burly man opened his palm and waved in the air, unleashing a burst of energy that sent the teenager flying into a house.

The two figures began to battle immediately, unleashing countless abilities beyond the power system of this world.

In the rubble of a certain house, there existed a bloody figure, lacking most of his body. It was Compass Carburettor, dead from the burly man's attack. Immediately, the ground underneath him opened up as his corpse fell through a long shaft, heading deep into the earth.

A minute later, his corpse splattered at the end of the shaft, turning even more unrecognisable. Immediately after, there was a small shine, outlining the shape of the Warble before a Haggon appeared, gasping for air as it slumped on the ground.

A second later, the Haggon took on its human—Spirit—form, sighing, "This is practically torture."

He then looked at the group of ants beside him, nodding, "Take me to the surface."
