Just as the one-horned ant obliterated the one-horned dog, the figure of Compass Carburettor landed above it, crushing it into a pulp from the impact.
Skill—Directional Misalignment (Level 1)!
The surrounding ants were unable to close in on him as Compass Carburettor extracted a pearl from the dog and the ant each, swallowing one of them to summon his mongoose, making it devour the dog.
He then picked up the one-horned ant's carcass and vanished from the scene, baffling the remaining ants.
"If the ants also grow horns, then…" Compass Carburettor smirked, "It'll become easier for my growth."
After all, the ants were able to eat the grass too. So, they wouldn't ever face a shortage of food. It'll be easier for them to grow in numbers, allowing for more of them to grow horns eventually.
He arrived at his home, checking up Grisha's condition before arriving at the living room, dropping the carcass of the one-horned ant before the ant queen, "Here's a gift for you."
"Wow, so the ants have a horned member among them already?" The ant queen was surprised before gobbling up the ant carcass, closing its eyes to digest its gains. She was currently taking care of the hatchlings, feeding them food that the worker ant brought after a lot of effort.
As it had his Skills, it was able to survive the assault of the grass and even reap some harvest for the hatchlings.
After observing them for some time, Compass Carburettor returned to his Haggon form, causing a lot of mosquitoes to form a ball for him to devour. He felt some changes in himself, noticing a horn beginning to grow on his forehead.
'I see, so a Haggon is considered as a mutated beast here. Does that mean I'll be possessing different skillsets?' Thinking as such, he willed for the boots to appear, frowning upon seeing them failing to appear.
"So, my spirit form is still considered a human while my Haggon form is a beast. And, due to the power system at effect, my Haggon form cannot use the boots." He shook his head, muttering, "Still, that means my Haggon form will have an exclusive ability based on this power system."
"As long as it's useful." He muttered, eating his fill before sitting in silence, sensing his Darlac being replenished.
He directed some of the Mental Energy he had accumulated till now towards the Skill of Info Scanner, intending to make it reach level 10 first. With that, he'll be able to observe more information about the Hatchling Systems.
'I need some stable sources of Mental Energy first.' Sighing, he got up, hearing a report from the mosquito that it had spotted another mutated beast.
His figure flashed as he hunted the creature, extracting the pearl from its body before bringing the body, giving it to the cobra to eat.
His mongoose was currently full, so unless it finished digesting its prey, he couldn't feed it another mutated beast.
Days passed in such a manner as Compass Carburettor began to worry, noticing that Grisha showed no signs of waking up, still unconscious. Even though he was nursing her to ensure she wouldn't become weak while unconscious, he did notice that she was turning a bit thin as the days passed by.
Her nutritional intake was insufficient as her entire body seemed to be in a state of sluggishness. After all, even though he fed her, her digestive system took more than half a day to process the food.
[Attention! Citizens! The Government would supply relief funds for the survivors. And, on the month-end, we'll arrive to rescue the survivors and transport them to the survivors' camp we have been building.]
[Attention! Citizens! The Govt…]
The sounds of a helicopter flying overhead resounded as the announcement was played as a loop through a speaker, allowing everyone that was still alive to hear loud and clear.
Upon hearing the sounds, the mosquitoes flew towards the helicopter but the winds generated by its rotors prevented them from closing in.
And for those that still managed to close in from the sides, they were met with a sea of flames.
Seated within the helicopter were a team of soldiers, carrying flamethrowers that they used to burn all mosquitoes to crisp. As the announcement continued to loop, the helicopter slowly moved away, heading towards another region.
Compass Carburettor gazed at the calendar, "Month-end… there are still around 20 days left for that."
Even though the announcement mentioned a survivors' camp, its location hadn't been specified. Moreover, the date of rescue was scheduled twenty days later for some reason.
"I don't think anyone would be able to survive for that long in this situation." Compass Carburettor sighed.
"That rescue would never happen." Suddenly, a feminine voice resounded, surprising him as he turned around, noticing Grisha waking up, clutching her forehead.
"You woke up!" He was happy, arriving at her help when Grisha grabbed hold of his shirt and pulled him towards her, locking lips right away.
Unlike before, or even during the first time, her kiss was too heated this time, as if she wished to imprint herself upon him as her lips roamed through his entire body.
Like a snake, Grisha slithered into his dress, joining with him as the sounds of thumping turned vigorous, followed by her intense moans.
The moment Grisha was a bit tired, she swallowed one of the pearls he had been saving up, summoning her wand to heal herself, thumping in vigour once again.
Only after three hours passed in such a fashion did she climax, slumping on him as she panted, muttering as her hand caressed his face, "Why…did you use that ability on me?"
"I thought it would be helpful…" Compass Carburettor replied when she kissed him once again, interrupting him.
After a minute, she retracted from the lip lock, her eyes moist as she said in anger, "You know, not a single damn one was pleasant. Nightmare…every damn cycle was just one nightmare after another."
"48…damn cycles, 48 nightmares…" She teared up, "Why…did you do it?"
"You made me remember everything now."
