Chapter 566: Arayn's Secrets
"Mystic Tower? I didn't expect to hear such important information here. Hmm, maybe I can find some clue about 'Earth' in this tower." Charles muttered with a frown.
Suddenly, Arayn turned her gaze towards Charles and asked in a surprised tone.
"Did you say 'Earth'? Strange… Who do I feel some resonance towards that word?" She paused for a moment and soon muttered a few different words.
"Ki…Tu… Gaea…Geb… Nilam?"
As the Arayn spoke, Charles's eyes widened all of a sudden.
'Gaea? Gaia? Isn't it an ancient Greek word for mother earth? Geb is an Egyptian God of Earth, right?'
"You are from Earth?" He couldn't help but halt his footsteps and ask in a shocked tone.
Meanwhile, Arayn went silent for a few seconds and finally spoke.
"I was the Guardian Deity of Paalai Land when I was in my birth world. But it was long ago."
"Paalai Land? What was that?"
"Paalai means a dry area in my native tongue. Although it isn't a desert land, rain rarely comes and always appears hot. Still, it was my only home."
Charles and others suddenly felt a trace of sorrow and sadness in her tone.
Noticing the strange silence, Arayn let out a hoot and continued.
"I was summoned to a Higher plane around 10,000 years ago and then I became a wanderer. I lost many things during the past few millennials and even lost some of my memories to search for my way back. Still today, I never found a clue. You are the first one." She paused for a moment and asked.
"But how did you come to this world? Our home world should be in the Unexplored Universe, though."
'Unexplored Universe?'
"Sun God Abium brought me here through transmigration. As for how he found Earth, I still have no idea. If you want to return to Earth, you can seek help from him." Charles decided to give her some clues. Although they were total strangers, he didn't feel distant at all.
'Wait… She said that she was a Guardian Deity, right? Does that mean she was a God before?'
If it were before, he wouldn't have put any thought into those words. But after hearing Arayn's earlier words, he decided to clear his doubts first.
"Are you a human? How did you become a Guardian Deity?"
To his words, Arayn tilted her head and shook her head.
"I'm the Daughter of Goddess Kotravai. So, everyone in the land worshiped me as a Deity and sought protection from me. Well, I worked as a Guardian for only around 200 years, so I didn't recall much."
'That's not the answer to my question… Wait. Daughter of Goddess? 200 years? I don't think any human lived for more than 120 years, though. Although I don't know when she was summoned from Earth, I can vaguely tell that it should be during the bronze or Iron age. Does that mean supernatural forces existed on Earth at that time? Or did she come from an entirely different world which is similar to Earth?'
"How was the Earth's civilization developed when you were summoned to another world?"
The black owl blinked her eyes and shook her head.
"I never traveled through the sea or to the northern lands, so I don't know about the outside world. But I have seen travelers from Greakam in Kavada port and even conversed with them."
'Greakam? Does she mean Greek? So, she was summoned during the Greek Empire? But what is this place called Kavada?'
"Does your place was ruled by kings? Or some local lords?" Charles asked.
"King Nedunjeliyan. He and his son visited me more than three times during his regime and sang songs for me to get my blessings. Ah, he was such a great poet."
'King what…? The name itself seems to be difficult to pronounce. Whatever.'
As they were talking like long-lost friends, Jessie suddenly stopped her footsteps as they arrived at the end of the long tunnel and interrupted their conversation.
"It's better to leave the sewage tunnel now." Saying so, she put the crystalline card on the metallic wall and started to mutter the same code-like number.
Meanwhile, Charles also stopped talking and shifted his gaze toward the front.
A few seconds later, the metallic wall shone in the same bright light, turned transparent in a blink, and revealed another staircase to everyones' sight.
"Let's hide our faces from now on," Jessie said solemnly and took out a bunch of hooded robes and white masks.
"Do we have to wear these masks? Won't this attract more attention?" Silvia asked with a frown.
"No." Jessie didn't explain much and quietly distributed the robes and masks to others.
After thinking for a moment, she turned her gaze towards Silvia and spoke.
"It's better for this owl to hide it in your robe, My Lady. Otherwise, its presence might expose our identity to the Fate Professor sooner."
"Owl? It? Are you insulting me? I have a name!" Arayn protested in anger.
"Calm down, Arayn." Silvia patted Arayn's head and wore the robe and mask.
After that, Charles, Jessie, and others quietly moved outside through the stairs and soon noticed that they were standing in the middle of an empty road. Only two carriages and a few people appeared in everyone's sight, and the whole surroundings looked deserted.
"We are in the Bronze Land, isn't it?" Charles asked solemnly after glancing around.
"Yes. Let's go to a safe location first." Saying so, Jessie started walking ahead for a while and soon entered the left side alley road. Then, she brought everyone deep into the alley road while walking past many houses and shops and soon stopped in front of a bar named 'Black Beer.'
"Mr. Charles, please avoid eye contact with anyone inside the bar. The same goes for Lady Silvia and Martin. If someone makes trouble for us, I'll take care of it."
Charles raised his eyebrows and nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Jessie raised her hands, opened the entrance door, and walked ahead.
Although the bar was bustling with life a moment ago, it became dead silent when Jessie revealed her face.
The bar's reception hall looked more like a banquet hall, and people with different attire were seated inside.
"What are you doing in my bar, lass?" A cold voice came from the reception hall. The owner of this voice was a tall man with a hook mustache. He was around 40 years old, had straight black hair, elongated eyebrows, azure blue eyes, and wore a butler suit.
"Sir. Mike, it's been a while." Upon seeing the tall man, Jessie revealed a bright smile and waved her hand at him.
"Tch. The people in this bar are our regular customers, so don't you dare lay your filthy hands on them." The tall man named Mike said with a wary look.
"I didn't come here to look for a companion today. I need to borrow the VIP hall for an hour. Can you allow it?"
Instead of responding, the man named Mike looked at Charles, Silvia, and Marvin.
"I can clearly tell your friends look more dangerous than you." He paused for a moment and let out a deep sigh.
"Haa, use it."
Saying so, he quietly took out an iron key from the nearby cupboard and gave it to Jessie.
Meanwhile, Jessie caught the key and started walking towards the staircase on the left side.
Soon, the group went upstairs and disappeared from the reception hall.
