Charles stayed in the same position for the next few hours and continued deciphering the book.
"Astial Language (The origin of the sacred scripts) and its influence..."
At first, Charles only saw early scripts of the Astial Language with some phonetics and the crude form of writing.
But as he continued to read the first volume, he soon realized that it was a narrative about the rise and fall of an Archaic Civilization in a world called 'The Origin Nexus.'
'Birth of three princes....' Charles continued to read this book for the next three days and finally completed it. Then, he stored the volume-1 into his space ring and took out the second volume before opening it. He isolated himself from other works and continued reading the second one.
"2. Style or Metre (Required for verses)..."
In the second volume, he learned about unique styles of the Astial Language's writing, their way of living, the people's food habits, and so on.
The next volume was mainly about mathematics. But unlike the maths Charles learned on Earth, what he saw were some unique procedures and unique methods for calculation.
"3. Mathematics..."
When he finished learning the third volume, he grasped the basics of the Astial Language and even managed to speak some words strangely.
For the next three months, he didn't waste a single moment of his time and continued to learn about many things.
"4. Dream and its mysteries ..."
"5. Records of the Past Time..."
"6. Calligraphy..."
"7. Law and Order..."
"8. Astrology..."
"9. Tenets of Righteousness..."
"10. Soul Insight Exercise..."
...
The more he tried to decipher the new words and learned the meanings, the more he connected to some wisdom power and even continuously gained enlightenment!
At some point, the remains of [Inheritance Gift] hidden deep inside his soul started to act up and started upgrading his [Arcane Eyes] skill.
Indeed, even though he left his System Cube with Runeth, this [Inheritance Gift] was still hiding in his Inner World.
At that moment, countless strange letters similar to Runal words came from the depths of his soul, passed through the Dark Space, and started affecting his eyes.
Although no warning notifications appeared in front of his eyes, Charles knew that his eyes were undergoing some strange kind of mutation!
The mutation process continued for more than an hour and finally stopped.
Then, a dense amount of information also appeared out of nowhere and engraved in the depth of his soul.
A second later, Charles opened his eyes and saw a strange scene.
"Eyes of the Runes?" A flash of surprise appeared on his face.
At that moment, his right eye appeared eerie bluish like his original one, but his left eye seemed to be a whitish crystalline one!
In his right eye, he saw a regular physical world.
But in his left eye, he saw something extraordinary.
It was the Dream World!
What startled him most was that he noticed the 'Time' anomaly in the Dream World and got stunned inside.
He saw a ruined palace at first, then the scenario got changed into empty grassland where the wild creatures were roaming here and there, and sometime later, he saw a normal scene where everyone was standing in the Throne Hall, but everything moved slowly!
Time moved faster sometimes, while the other times were at a very slower place. Not only that, but he also saw past, present, and future scenes like some broken videotape recorder!
But before he could try to get more information, a sharp pain appeared from the depth of his left eye and caused him to close it voluntarily.
'What happened?' He frowned deeply before trying to open his eyes but was met with another sharp pain.
'Why? Is there any cool-down time for this upgraded left eye? Or, is my understanding of the Wisdom power is too low to let me see what's happening in the Dream World?' He couldn't help but show a surprised look on his face.
After that, he shifted his attention towards his right eye and tried to sense what was upgraded.
'Hmm? I can now see the Soul forms more clearly, clear interlined fate and luck strings of every creature -... Hmm? Interlinked? So, that's why changing one's luck is affecting the fate strings, huh.' He nodded inwardly and continued to check.
'Able to see Illusions, invisible objects, and other things are already there before. So, it's not a major upgrade. But the major one is the computer-like deciphering ability.' He nodded inwardly and then shifted his attention towards the next volume. Even though he upgraded his eyes, his thirst for knowledge and power hadn't lessened a single bit.
...
Three months later, he finally completed the 64th book called "Knowledge of Black Magic and Curses" and felt that he had comprehended the power of wisdom to some level!
'It wasn't a power one could gain by just reading books. To obtain even a little spark of wisdom, I think I needed to learn and experience things like the birth of civilizations, histories of different kinds of worlds and eras, many races, their origins, their natural habits, and many more. What I have is nothing but a minute particle of knowledge about a particular civilization that was destroyed eons ago.' At that moment, he also realized the gap between a God and a mortal.
'Those Gods must have lived for tens of thousands of years and even saw birth and fall of many civilizations. So, it's not surprising for them to not even consider me as a threat. On the other hand, I'm nothing more than a worthless being. I don't have a Prodigy or Divine affinity in any element, nor do I have some powerful S or SS Level Intellectual artifact or any overpowered grandfather to help me. I have a criminal mind to think smarter, but there must be many more genius out there to outsmart my pathetic mind.' A frown appeared on his forehead as he walked in the hallway, stopped in front of a large wooden door, and opened it.
It was his royal bedroom.
The room was big and lengthy, made entirely of the wooden floor, and had a large bed with wooden frames made of wooden logs. They were a bit rusty with patches of moss. Above the bed, there was a wooden pole with many bells tied on it. It was on the right side of the room. To his left was a big desk, and next to it was a wooden rack used to keep his clothing.
There were also some big empty wooden chests placed in the corner of the room and big windows on the opposite wall. As one could see it from the outside, the windows were large, and a large wooden table and chair were placed next to it.
The table was made of a few logs of wood, and next to it was a small cupboard filled with foodstuff and several utensils.
Once Charles walked inside, he went near the wooden table and sat on the nearby chair.
