"It broke, huh..." Avi muttered amused as she watched the broken earpiece on her palm. "You know that you are not the one who is going to get scolded for this, right? Why should I take the blame for you?"
"I only need five minutes. I will owe you a favor afterward," Liu Ye suggested right away, which swayed Avi like a switch.
"Talk bitch," Avi hurried Tian with an ice spike in front of his face. "How did you learn about Liu Ye and why do you want to kill him?"
It was the question Liu Ye was about to ask as well. It just didn't make sense for him. Why would they try to kill him instead of using him to blackmail his parents? They were simply losing the leverage which made him suspicious about anything Tian said.
"Listen," Tian began as he ignored her and gazed at Liu Ye. "I was ordered to kill you by Master Yang and I wasn't given any explanation. All I know is that even Master Yang doesn't know much about you."
"Huh? Why did he order you to kill me then?" Liu Ye questioned confused. Even Avi was surprised by his statement.
"Did you think that Master Yang is the true mastermind behind our organization?" Tian asked back with a smile. "Surprise, surprise, we are all pawns and he is at most a knight. There are individuals with more power than him who move all the pieces."
He paused and beckoned at Avi. "She doesn't know about at least half of our operations since everything is concealed tightly. They think that their intelligence is great but they only see what we allow them to see. When they get what they want, they stop digging deeper and continue to think they have an advantage. Her expression only confirms my words. She had no idea."
"Even if it's true, why would people at that level bother with me then? I'm nobody to them," Liu Ye pointed out. "Killing me won't help you get information out of my parents."
"I don't really know what they are planning but I know the order came from the top. If you kill me right now, they will send someone else who is even more powerful than me. At that time, Avi won't be able to save you," Tian informed before adding assuringly, "I can help you with that."
"And why should we believe everything you say right now?" Avi stopped him right there. "Everything you say is all based on trust and we don't trust you at all. I haven't heard about any of that because it's all bullshit."
"You can think what you want but that's the truth," Tian replied calmly. "This whole time you have been creating your game and trying to awaken people in the most controlled way possible, we have been active as well. Didn't you ever wonder how Master Yang possesses so much money?"
He smiled at their cluelessness and explained, "You all have been sleeping on the powerful governments for so long that we have already made deals with most countries in the world. Don't you know how greedy humans are? When they found out about the power of elements, everyone desired to possess this power. Which government wouldn't want to create an army full of benders and take over the world?"
"This…" Liu Ye didn't know how to comment on that, knowing it was entirely possible. He wouldn't be surprised if the governments paid billions to support them after learning about elements.
"If that were to happen, the world would turn into chaos and you wouldn't be able to stop the destruction," Avi commented with a frown. "There is a reason why our organization didn't involve individual governments. Once you give them what they want, you can't control what they are going to do with it."
"Well, that's your loss. Now we have unlimited funding to reach our goal and open the Spirit World. It won't be long before all our researchers can replicate Liu Ye parent's results and let the world enter into the new era of elements," Tian announced just before they heard police sirens coming from the distance.
Liu Ye was already wondering why did the Police take so long to arrive after hearing a massive shooting.
"It seems like your time has ended," Avi muttered, causing Tian to panic.
"Wait! You think why did I tell you all of this?!" Tian stopped them hurriedly. "I told you, I can help you. I know the exact location where Liu Ye's parents are imprisoned. I can work for you and help you rescue them while being a double spy. What do you think?"
"What's the location?" Liu Ye questioned but Tian shook his head.
"If I tell you, I will just get killed right after by you. If you want to save your parents, you have to work together with me," Tian convinced. "We can pretend that I killed you so that no one else will be sent after you and then cooperate to get your parents out of the prison."
Avi rolled her eyes at the proposal and Liu Ye wasn't a fan either. It basically meant letting him free only to trust that he will honor their agreement. They couldn't trust a man who came here to kill him.
"I have always wanted to join my Queen since the moment I saw her," Tian added right after. "You can give me one of the blocker pills and then Miss Katherine can place a restriction on me to keep me in check. I will definitely be useful to you—"
Tian couldn't finish his words as his face suddenly trembled. His eyes rolled and then blood came out of his mouth. Liu Ye took it casually, thinking it was all Avi's doing but then he saw her taking a step back while squinting her eyes.
"It wasn't your doing?" Liu Ye asked only to see Tian's face swell with blood. He couldn't even react when Avi suddenly ran into his chest and knocked them on the ground.
"Watch out!"
